Sadly tomorrow is the last day of Victorious Festival 2026 but we are very excited to be welcoming 3 more amazing authors and illustrators to our Roar about Reading Live! marquee.

The Kids Arena opens tomorrow from 11am and closes at 6pm. We will be hosting different events and activities throughout the day including the opportunity to purchase books from Hayling Island Bookshop.

Look out for our special guest author and illustrators, who will be joining us throughout the day:

We are at Victorious Festival ready to welcome you!
The library tuk tuk is full of books, there are puzzles and activities and the School Library Service have organised a fantastic programme of children's authors for the weekend. If you are attending and would like to say hello we are located near the junction of Avenue de Caen and Clarence Esplanade.

We can't wait for another exciting day tomorrow! We will be hosting different activities again in our Roar about Reading...

We are excited to welcome Gareth P. Jones to Roar about Reading Live! at Victorious Festival, following his fantastic role as our guest author for Portsmouth’s Big Park Read 2026.

An award-winning author, performer, multi-instrumentalist and composer, Gareth writes both picture books and children’s novels — and even writes songs for them all!

Back in July, over 800 Year 1 pupils joined Gareth in College Park and Victoria Park across a brilliant two-day celebration of reading, inspired by his joyful book The Lion on the Bus. Ever pupil who attended the event was gifted a signed copy of his book.

We are delighted that Gareth is joining us again here in Portsmouth following a 10-day run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He will be appearing at 4pm, with a book signing to follow — a wonderful opportunity to meet an author and continue the reading adventure!

A selection of Gareth's books will be available for purchase throughout the 3-day event courtesy of Hayling Island Bookshop. A 'left book' service for collection before 6pm is available!
