Labour are changing planning policy - and it will take away your voice. 🥀

In October 2026, Labour's national scheme of delegation will change how planning applications are handled by councils, including HMOs.

This change will affect how residents can make their voice heard in opposition to damaging applications. Portsmouth North Labour MP, Amanda Martin voted for this.

More decisions will be taken by unelected council officers and there will be less opportunities for residents to have a say.

We're calling on Amanda Martin MP to:

- Give local residents back their say back on controversial HMO applications
- Provide stronger local powers to tackle excessive HMO concentrations
- Protect family homes and local communities

⚠ Secretary of State for Local Government, Angela Rayner has today announced that Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), including the plans for Hampshire, have been placed on hold after 'new legal advice'.

This follows Hampshire County Conservatives legal challenge over LGR decision for Hampshire. This proves that Labour's rushed LGR plans were not suitable for Hampshire and that Hampshire Conservatives were right to launch their challenge.

As it stands, election in May 2027 will still take place. These elections will be to Portsmouth City Council in it's current form and will be 1/3 of the Council.

Labour is once again causing chaos with our democracy. 🥀
