Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service have 14 strategically positioned Community Fire Stations; five are crewed 24/7 by full-time Firefighters, one is crewed during the day and eight stations are crewed by on-call Firefighters. An emergency communication centre, training centre and headquarters are located on the same site in Kempston and there are other offices located in the north and south of th
e county. Potton Community Fire Station serves Potton and the surrounding area but can be called upon to attend incidents further afield if needed. It is operated by on-call Firefighters and is home to one Rescue Pump (an all purpose Fire and Rescue engine) and one Operational Support Unit (a specialist vehicle used at salvage, flooding and large scale breathing apparatus incidents). Our on-call Firefighters live or work within five minutes of the fire station and are alerted to an emergency by a radio pager which they carry at all times. When the pagers are activated the crew immediately make their way to the station and respond on the fire engine to whatever emergency they are required at.
