Last week, we shared the decision to close access to Memorial Park Fleetwood while refurbishments works are taking place, due to ongoing anti-social behaviour on site.

Regrettably, the situation has worsened. Our contractors have been subjected to threatening behaviour, and the building site has continued to be compromised. It's not just young people at fault - we have witnessed adults helping children gain access to the secured construction area.

We cannot emphasise strongly enough how dangerous this is. Entering an active construction area and climbing a 7 foot climbing frame presents a serious risk of injury. A fall from that height onto solid concrete could have life-changing or even fatal consequences.

Wyre Council is investing in Fleetwood and working hard to provide improved play facilities for local children and families. However, these improvements can only be delivered with the support and co-operation of the community.

Every instance of damage, trespass or disruption not only delays the project but also increases costs. Money that should be spent improving facilities for local residents instead has to be used to repair damage, replace security measures and address issues caused by unauthorised access.

We are taking action to support the completion of this project by hiring security. We are in regular close contact with Fleetwood Police, who are also undertaking more regular patrols.

Fleetwood is a town with a strong sense of identity and pride. We know residents care deeply about the area and want to see it thrive. We are therefore asking everyone to play their part by respecting the site boundaries, discouraging others from entering the area, and allowing our contractors to carry out their work without obstruction.

By working together, we can ensure these improvements are completed as quickly and safely as possible for the benefit of the whole community.

Another heatwave is just around the corner, and as temperatures rise might be tempting to cool off in a lake, river, canal, reservoir or the ocean - but it's not worth your life.

Remember that the water can be colder than you expect, the current stronger than it looks, and that the tides can come in from different directions to cut you off from the shore. Plus, the banks of inland water sources can often be too steep to get out of.

If you get into trouble in the water, could save your life:
β€’ Tilt your head back with ears submerged
β€’ Relax and try to control your breathing
β€’ Use your hands to help you stay afloat
β€’ It’s OK if your legs sink, we all float differently

Remember it. Practise it. Share it.

πŸ“’ Calling all Wyre business owners!

Are you so busy working in your business that you rarely get time to work on it?

This free workshop from The Small Business Academy could help you build the strong foundations needed for long-term success, covering the practical side of running a profitable business.

πŸ“… Tuesday 18 August
πŸ’· Free for business owners in Blackpool and Wyre

See the original post below for more details and booking information πŸ‘‡

πŸ™ˆ There's an uncomfortable truth that business owners don't want to hear.... but they need to.... πŸ™ˆ

You don't need to go to more events.
You don't need to learn more marketing techniques.
You don't need to work more on your brand.

You need to build the boring, unsexy, solid foundations of a profitable business.

Too many people want to decorate the cake, but they don't want to mix the flour and the butter, and weigh the ingredients and bake the cake. Because that isn't 'fun'

They are 'too busy' to work on their business, but they are running around fire fighting, flying by the seat of their pants, reacting to whatever drama rears it's head on any given Monday.

If they do get a holiday, they spend a week by the pool with their phone in their hand... getting involved... problem solving

This workshop is the one nearly every business we support really needs - and yet it's the one we always struggle to fill! (Sexy Social media / digital marketing on the other hand, everyone wants to attend.... πŸ˜…)

Because it means actually doing some work. Learning how to *actually* run a business instead of pratting about being a busy fool...

Who else is in? Tue 18th August

Book here - https://thesmallbusinessacademy.co.uk/masterclass-bookings/

No cost to business owners in Blackpool and Wyre.

❓ Myth: Awards only matter to the winners.
βœ… Fact: Being entered or shortlisted is an achievement in itself and a fantastic way to recognise the hard work, dedication and success of a local business.

For many businesses, simply being recognised by customers, colleagues or the local community can boost morale, raise their profile and celebrate the people behind the scenes who make it all happen.
Do you know a business that deserves recognition for what they do? Tag them in the comments πŸ‘‡
