Powick Parish Council Powick Parish Council in Worcestershire forms the first tier of local government covering the Wards of Powick and Callow End.

Working within a legal and development framework, Parish Councils form the first tier of local government. Parish Councils are the democratic voice of the community, have legal powers to provide community services and facilities, influence the decisions made by others on the way our community is developed and have a statutory right to be consulted on local planning applications. The Parish Council

is not answerable to the other two tiers of local councils (Malvern Hills District Council & Worcestershire County Council), but we must make decisions in an open, accountable and transparent way. An annual budget is set each year and accounts are subject to internal and external audit. To fund the budget the Parish Council sets a precept, which is an amount of money included in your council tax bill for financing the work undertaken in the community.

📍 Venue: The Pavilion, Hospital Lane, Powick

🕖 Planning Committee Meeting: 7:00pm

🕢 Parish Council Meeting: 7:30pm

The Parish Council does not normally meet during August. However, councillors felt it would be beneficial to hold a meeting this year to
ensure important parish business continues to be considered without delay.

🚧 Road Closure Notice – Bastonford 🚧

Please be aware that Bastonford (U62028) will be temporarily closed from a point approximately 200 metres north-east of the southern junction with the A449 Malvern Road, extending for 155 metres in a north-easterly direction.

📅 Start date: 27 July 2026
⏳ Expected duration: 1 day (although the legal order allows for up to 18 months if required)

Reason for the closure: Openreach will be carrying out pole replacement works.

🏡 Access: Access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected section of the road where there is no alternative access.

🚗 Diversion routes:

Anti-clockwise: Bastonford (part) → A449 Malvern Road → Bastonford (part)

Clockwise: Bastonford (part) → A449 Malvern Road (northbound) → A449 The Village → A449 Malvern Road (southbound) → Bastonford (part)

Please be aware that Bow Hill (U62010) will be temporarily closed between Lower Ferry Lane (U62005) and Highfield (U62009).

📅 Start date: 29 July 2026
⏳ Expected duration: 3 days (although the legal order allows for up to 18 months if required)

Reason for the closure: Severn Trent Water will be carrying out works to install a new water connection.

🏡 Access: Access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected section of the road where there is no alternative access.

🚗 Diversion route: Lower Ferry Lane (U62005) → B4424 Upton Road, and vice versa.

Please be aware that Station Road (C2027) will be temporarily closed between Bransford Court Lane (C2218) and Kings End Road (U62020).

⏳ Expected duration: 5 days (although the legal order allows for up to 18 months if required)

Reason for the closure: Worcestershire County Council will be carrying out drainage works as part of a flood alleviation scheme.

🏡 Access: Access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected section of the road where there is no alternative access.

🚗 Diversion route: Collett's Green → Old Malvern Road → A449 Malvern Road → A449 The Village → A4440 Hams Way → A4440 Grove Way → A4103 Bransford → Station Road (part), and vice versa.

Reason for closure: Openreach utility works.

🏡 Access: Access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected section where there is no alternative access.

🚗 Diversion route: B4424 Upton Road → A449 Malvern Road → A449 Worcester Road → C2102 Newland → C2103 Upper Woodsfield → C2103 Lower Woodsfield → C2103 Deblins Green, and vice versa.

🌟 MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY 🌟

Powick Parish Council is looking for new Parish Councillors, and we would especially love to hear from residents of Callow End, Byrons Wood and Tannery Drive.

Have you ever wanted to help shape your local area, support community projects, organise events, improve local facilities, or represent the views of local residents?

We're particularly keen to encourage younger people to get involved. If you have an interest in communications, community engagement, events, or simply making a positive difference where you live, becoming a councillor can be a rewarding way to gain valuable experience while helping your community.

No previous experience is necessary – just enthusiasm, fresh ideas and a willingness to get involved.

📅 The Parish Council usually meets on the first Wednesday of each month.

👋 All local residents are welcome to attend meetings, whether you have a specific issue you'd like to raise, want to learn more about local matters, or simply want to see local government in action.
