Warmer temperatures and spring sunshine is beautiful but it brings a higher wildfire risk.

Our crews have already attended several incidents, including the one pictured on Scout Moor. Please take extra care when outdoors: no disposable BBQs, no careless smoking, and always take your rubbish with you.

If you see a fire, call 999 immediately and give the location, size, terrain, and any other details to help crews respond quickly.

Let’s look after Lancashire together.

Most people don’t realise this…
…but cold water shock can affect anyone, even strong swimmers.

If you fall in, don’t panic.
Float on your back and try control your breathing.

Spread your arms and legs to stay stable, it’s OK if your legs sink.
Gently move them if needed.

Once you’re calm, call for help or swim to safety.

This recent fire, involving an extension lead and heater, is a reminder of how quickly electrical hazards can escalate.

A few simple checks could help prevent a similar incident in your home.

Top tips for staying safe:

βœ” Check plugs, sockets and chargers regularly for burn marks, scorch marks or unusual smells.
βœ” Charge devices on a solid, stable surface, never on beds or carpets.
βœ” Don’t leave appliances running unattended or overnight.
βœ” Turn off appliances when not in use, including washing machines, dishwashers, and heaters.
βœ” Take extra care with e-cigarettes, e-bikes, and e-scooters, never charge them unsupervised.

A quick safety check today could make all the difference tomorrow.
