GRONANT UPDATE

There is still a lot of vagueness around what happens next, but what I do want to see is everyone kept informed of every development regarding these buildings and any changes to the current plans.

The Home Office still has a lot of questions to answer about why they thought this was a good idea in the first place, why Gronant was considered suitable and what consultation actually took place before any of this came about.

I also want to say a massive thank you to Ted Hill for everything he’s done for the people of Gronant. He’s put his neck on the line and stood up for the community just down the road from Rhyl and that deserves to be recognised.

As for Labour, I won’t be thanking them for this one. As a wise man once said:

“They’ve thrown a brick through their own window, phoned around to get it fixed, then given themselves a pat on the back saying well done.”

And this isn’t just about Gronant. We need to know what other plans may be considered around the area, because what happens in one community can very quickly affect another.

Flintshire is Denbighshire’s neighbour. You fight with the people next to you, especially for the people behind you.

We need to look after our communities, keep each other informed and make sure local people aren’t left in the dark. I’ll keep asking questions and pushing for answers, but we also need to stay calm, sensible and united as we see what happens next.

â›” Personal Statement â›”

I’ll state what Gronant means to me... I’ve never said I live there, I don’t. I only moved away around the time Covid happened. Which is still the area, just not Gronant.

My Family home is in Prestatyn and will always be my home ❤️

I lived and worked in Gronant in a caravan for a good few years after leaving the army which was amazing as it is a tourist hotspot and it was full of happy people I'm still good friends with now...
It was actually while I lived there that I got with my partner.
My daughter Skyla from my ex marriage is also buried in the cemetery around 300ft from the Gronant Institute where these houses are....

Im am still good friends with ALL the business owners in Gronant.. The two shops, the only Cafe and the only Pub left... And still good friends with alot of the Family and staff and residents of Greenacres Holiday Park who sit lower gronant near the beach...

So saying I’m not local because I don’t currently live in Gronant is getting a bit personal...

I’m not claiming to represent Gronant. I’m saying I’ll fight for ANY of the towns and villages around here when people feel they need a LOUD voice.

Just clarifying things to some who don't know what I represent ❤️

UPDATE ON GRONANT

It’s good to see that the original proposal for Gronant has been significantly reduced.

The original proposal was for 13 properties, and this has now been reduced to a maximum of 3 properties, with those properties being for families only.

Personally, even 3 properties is more than I would have liked to see, but if it is going ahead, I’m glad that the decision is that they will be for families rather than single men or other groups.

I’m also glad GB News has given this situation coverage, allowing people much further afield to see the potential impact decisions like this can have on small communities like Gronant.

But I’m still wary.

The question now is: where next?

Prestatyn is a much larger community, with far more properties and accommodation available. Could somewhere there be considered next? Or another village or town around us?

I don’t want this simply moved down the road and becoming someone else’s problem.

We need to keep asking questions, keep people informed and make sure local residents have a voice before decisions are made, not after.

For now, I’ll be watching closely to see what happens next.
