I am pleased to report that Lancashire County Council took my concerns seriously when a resident reported an accident on the Beech Drive/Hazelmere Road junction recently.

The Give Way line markings have been repainted making the junction more visible to drivers.

On tonight's walk I noticed that the Beech Drive street sign has been smashed to smithereens and the 20mph speed sign now at a very precarious angle. Someone misjudged the junction, badly.

These have been been reported to Preston City Council who repair/replace street signs, and Lancashire County Council who repair speed signs.

Life will be so much simpler with just one council in future!

I also reported an overhanging tree on Brookside Road at the request of a resident.

Quick dog walk after the thunderstorms to take photos of casework reported to me yesterday. You will be glad to hear that Daisy the foster dog has now settled in and is very comfy on my sofa!

It is clear that a few drains and manholes were overwhelmed in the thunderstorms today. If you have been flooded from surface water (house, garden or cellar) , please report it to Lancashire County Council. Sewer flooding to United Utilities. And river flooding to the Environment Agency. The flood hub is a good source of information on what to do in the event of a flood.

I have reported the blocked drains I have seen on Garstang Road, Harrison Road and Ashwood Road to LCC on the Love Clean Streets app.

I have also reported trees that need lower branches trimming on Garstang Road near Ashwood Road, Marlborough Drive and Greenway. This is usually done in the winter period. Those sticking out into the road and obstructing pedestrians should be done now.

I have also asked for the overflowing bin to be emptied at the Garstang Road bus stop near Brookside Road. And for the ivy to be chopped back so residents and council workers can reach it more easily.

Finally, I reported the 'all out' traffic lights on the Garstang Road/Lightfoot Lane junction to the police. Hoping for a quick fix.

Great work here from Cllr Mark Jewell in Ashton. Someone else with a bug bear about inaccessible pavements and lack of action from LCC Highways.

I put an enquiry to LCC a few weeks ago asking them to resurface the pavement on Marlborough Drive. It is in a sorry state. Very broken up and a rough ride for wheelchair users.

I got a response back telling me that it wasn't bad enought to need fixing as there were no trip hazards. And that they only had one report from me in 2022. Patently untrue. There is clearly a problem with their data system.

Today I noticed that they have fixed one trip hazard reported a few weeks ago on behalf of a resident and marked out repairs needed on other sections of pavement. Curiously, they only marked the problems on the even side of the road and not the odd side. I have now put in another Love Clean Streets app report to even things up (sorry, couldn't resist the pun!).

So they have gone from a flat no to fixing things. Please make it make sense. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was ably assisted by my new foster dog Daisy today. She is a very patient casework dog!

Broken up pavement also reported on Beech Drive, and the sunken bit of Ashwood Road reported again.

Today I had the pleasure of helping the Lancaster Lib Dem team with a canvassing session in Halton.

This is part of us working together more as North Lancashire Lib Dems as we go forward with our joined-up unitary councils. Please follow our new page if you want to know more or join in.

It was great to apply my councillor knowledge elsewhere and help a wider range of residents with highways and planning casework. Residents were very interested in learning more about Local Government Reorganisation and that in Halton the best way to keep Reform out is by voting Lib Dem.

Yet again, the brown bins from Hazelmere Road/Oakwood Drive area haven't been collected.
This has been reported to the waste management team.
The advice is to leave the bins out until they come back to catch up...
