📢 Update to works: A681 Bacup Road

Please be aware that the investigation phase of the essential safety works on the A681 Bacup Road at The Glen, between Bacup and Stacksteads is still ongoing. This means that the road will remain open this weekend.

We will provide an update next week on the progress of the investigations and when these works are due to continue.

**Service Update

We are pleased to confirm that the recent technical issues affecting some parking enforcement services have now been resolved and all systems are operating normally.

We appreciate the patience and understanding shown by customers during the disruption and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Customers who believe they may have been affected, particularly in relation to PCN payments or correspondence, are encouraged to contact the team for assistance.

⚠️ Parking Fine Payment Issues

We are currently experiencing issues with our parking enforcement system due to a wider Google cloud service outage affecting organisations across Europe.

This means some of our parking services are temporarily unavailable, including the ability to make payments for Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs). If you are unable to make a payment, please try again later.

Some services are beginning to be restored, although there may continue to be intermittent issues.

We appreciate people’s patience in the meantime.

This will be from 10pm on Sunday 18 October, to 6am the next day.

⚠️ M6 northbound update near Preston ⚠️

We're carrying out essential maintenance work on the M6 northbound between junctions 32 and 33 at Whittingham Lane underbridge, including concrete repairs, waterproofing and resurfacing. 👷‍♂️🚧

Since starting work, we've found that the concrete repairs needed are more extensive than first expected.

To help keep the scheme on schedule, we'll be keeping the current lane restrictions in place over the coming weekend only. This means there will be no overnight closures on Thursday 15 October or Saturday 17 October.
The extra time will allow us to complete additional repairs and ensure the concrete has fully cured before reopening to traffic.

⚠️ Drivers may experience some congestion on Friday afternoon, so please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.

Reminder of works: A681 Bacup Road

A reminder that essential safety works are due to begin again on the A681 Bacup Road at The Glen, between Bacup and Stacksteads. The road will be closed from 7am on Saturday 17 October until 6pm on Sunday 18th October. This is week 2 of 7.

These essential works will help reduce the risk of rockfall reaching the highway.

Work will be carried out at weekends only, with the road reopening during the week.

As always, there’s a lot happening on Lancashire’s roads next week with both our Lancashire County Council Highways teams and Lancashire's utility providers. We have listed some below.

• Main Road, Bolton-Le-Sands – two-way signals to allow United Utilities to carry out works , starting on the 20th October

• Mellor Lane, Mellor – road closed to allow BT to replace a damaged pole, starting on the 19th October

• Whalley Road, Accrington – multi-way signals to allow for IX WIRELESS to install telegraph pole carrying fibre cable, starting on the 22nd October

• Kestor Lane, Longridge – multi-way signals to allow PN Daly to excavate and lay HV mains for new development, starting on the 19th October
• Pope Lane, Penwortham - two-way Signals to allow private works to be carried out, starting on the 19th October
• Fylde Road, Preston – Lane closed to allow SP Electricity North West to carry out works, starting on the 21st October

West Lancs
• Burscough Road, Ormskirk – multi-way signals to allow Electricity North West to install new connection, starting 19th October
• Chorley Road, Parbold – road closed to allow carriageway pre-surface dressing patching works, starting on the 20th October
• Alder Lane, Parbold – road closed to allow for carriageway pre-surface dressing patching works, starting on the 23rd October

🚧 Reminder: Essential electricity works starting Monday in Longridge

From Monday 19 October, PN Daly will begin installing more than 4km of new electricity infrastructure between Longridge and Cumeragh Village, starting on Kestor Lane.

While these are not Lancashire County Council works, we've been working closely with the utility company and contractor to help coordinate the scheme and minimise disruption, particularly alongside other works in the area.

The works will be carried out in phases to reduce their impact, and traffic management arrangements will be monitored throughout.

We know there is already a lot happening on the local roads and appreciate your patience while these essential works are carried out.
