There’s another chance to watch ‘An Argyll and Bute Welcome’ this evening, 7-8pm, as part of the Refugee Festival Scotland.

The documentary shares the stories of people who have rebuilt their lives in Argyll and Bute after fleeing conflict and shows how a community can help people feel safe and belong and become important parts of day-to-day life in their new home.

It’s been another busy week and there’s been lots to do, but these are my highlights 💚

💪 joining Unison Scotland folks outside Parliament to sign their fair visa campaign pledge

🫂 asking the Cabinet Secretary for health to ensure that Black and Asian women’s voices are heard in the independent review of maternity services, and that the way they work with respondents is trauma informed

🪶 becoming the nature champion for the Manx Shearwater

💉 highlighting the Geddes family’s successful campaign to make a pre-eclampsia blood test available across Scotland.

As Margaret Mead said: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
