A lot of constituents have been in touch over the weekend rightly concerned about water levels at Buckley Common Pond. I raised this with Flintshire County Council in a letter on July 28th. I have chased them up today and also shared my concerns with Natural Resources Wales. Let's hope we get some action soon.

Anyone with a harvesting licence for, or interest in, the Dee Estuary cockle fishery can attend events to find out more about a proposed new regulating order.
The order was submitted by Natural Resources Wales and the North Western Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority in January as the current order ends in June 2028.
I've been corresponding with NRW and constituents about this since January. Now is the time for those with an interest in the issue to find out more ahead of a consultation:

Dee Estuary cockling rules face first rewrite in 18 years Share WhatsApp Twitter Facebook The rules controlling who can gather cockles on the Dee Estuary are to be rewritten, with 54 licensed gatherers working under an order that expires in June 2028. I recently visited the Sealand depot of a major third-party logistics provider to meet staff and discuss issues affecting freight operators.
PW Gates Distribution Ltd operates across the UK and Europe, handling over 4,000 pallets daily and serving customers including Ocado, the world’s largest online grocer. It was fantastic to see the operation in action.
I met Group Operations Director Chris Flynn and Chris Ashley from the Road Haulage Association (RHA). They raised matters affecting hauliers. These include rising operating costs, driver welfare, road infrastructure, skills shortages and decarbonisation.
I’ve been in touch with the RHA for several years and have already written to the Government on issues affecting hauliers in Alyn and Deeside – most recently about the lack of driver facilities, the skills shortage, rising costs and freight crime.
I’m pleased to see that the UK Government responded positively to our ask for a fuel duty freeze, and I will continue to support hauliers in my constituency.

I was recently invited to meet the team at Morrisons Manufacturing on Deeside Industrial Estate. Local employees at the 190,000 square foot site produce 290 tonnes of cooked meats every single week, making over 90 different products over 17 high-speed production lines.

I recently joined the team at Deeside Power Station along with Triton Power CEO Scott Keen to see the progress on the new 49.9MW Hydrogen Ready, Gas Peaking Plant supplied by Clarke Energy. The project is progressing rapidly and is due to commission in October 2026. This marks another milestone addition to the regeneration of the Deeside site.
