A new FREE dads and children group starts this Saturday at Deeside Leisure Centre.

Designed to bring dads together in a relaxed, welcoming space, with fun activities for children and the chance to chat and connect with other dads locally.

Whether you’re a new dad, single dad, stepdad, stay-at-home dad or just looking to meet other fathers in the area, you’re welcome.

Half term chaos? We had it covered 😅🐾🥞

Our “pups from down under” breakfast event was a huge hit yesterday morning with pancakes, dancing, cuddles and inflatable park fun for our little visitors 💙

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a lovely atmosphere. Safe to say the pups stole the show! Blue Duo Events

Do you have a child aged 8+ who would like to build confidence in the water while learning valuable lifesaving skills? 🌊

Then the Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK Junior Rookie Lifeguard Programme could be the perfect next step.

Designed for children who can already swim 25 metres unaided (Wave 7 or above), the programme focuses on:
🏊 Water confidence
🛟 Water safety awareness
🚨 Basic lifesaving and self-rescue skills

With water safety becoming more important than ever, this programme is a great way for young swimmers to continue progressing while learning skills that could one day help themselves or others.

Sessions are now available at:
Buckley Leisure Centre – Thursdays, 5:00pm
Jade Jones Pavilion, Flint – Tuesdays, 5:15pm or Thursdays, 4:45pm
Mold Leisure Centre – Tuesdays, 6:15pm

Important Customer Update ⛸️

The Ice Arena at Deeside Leisure Centre will temporarily close from Thursday 4 June 2026 to allow for essential maintenance works to key plant infrastructure within the facility.

These planned works are an important investment in maintaining the reliability and continued operation of the Ice Arena, helping to preserve the operational lifespan of this cherished facility.

The closure is currently expected to last for up to six weeks. We will continue to keep customers updated throughout the works and confirm a reopening date as soon as possible.

There is no need for members to take any action:

• Monthly direct debit memberships will automatically receive a pro rata credit on the next applicable payment date
• Monthly pay-as-you-go cash/card memberships will have subscription end dates extended to reflect the closure period
• Ice Saver 10 subscriptions will also have expiry dates extended in line with the duration of the closure

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers, clubs and skating community while these essential works are carried out and look forward to welcoming everyone back onto the ice soon 💚

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who supported activities across Gwella venues during Mental Health Awareness Week.

Together, an incredible £1,890 was raised for to help support local families through Home-Start Flintshire.

From charity fitness events and community activities to football sessions, walks, swims and wellbeing sessions, it was fantastic to see so many people getting involved, connecting with others and supporting mental health within our communities.

A special thank you to all members, local businesses and supporters who donated raffle prizes, purchased tickets and contributed throughout the week 💚

Gwella venues across Flintshire came together during Mental Health Awareness Week to support mental wellbeing, encourage community connection and raise funds
