Autumn Has Arrived at Radstock Community Hub and Library

With autumn here and Halloween just around the corner, Radstock Knitters have been busy creating some wonderful seasonal decorations, including knitted pumpkins and autumn leaves to brighten up our book display.
As the days grow shorter and the evenings get cosier, why not pop into the library, browse our shelves and choose some lovely books to enjoy and share together.
Whether you’re looking for a spooky Halloween tale or a heart-warming story to snuggle up with, there’s something for everyone at Radstock Community Hub and Library.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

A huge thank you to the Friends of Somer Valley for all their hard work and dedication to our green spaces.

Our brilliant Volunteer Leaders were awarded Inspirational Citizens certificates from Radstock Town Council on Saturday during their monthly habitat management session. Thank you to Radstock Town Council for taking the time to honour these skilled and hard working community members for everything they do to take care of our greenspaces. Well deserved!! Thank you Friends of Somer Valley!

Update: Tree works now complete!

Please be aware that there are essential tree works taking place at Tom Huyton park today.

It was hoped that the big tree that was impacted by the arson of the park benches would recover. Unfortunately, this is not the case and some of the branches have become dangerous and need to be removed. A huge thank you to Bath and North East Somerset Council’s parks team.

Radstock Town Council has prepared a formal document of representations in response to Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Pre-submission Draft Local Plan, as part of the Regulation 19 consultation, which opened on 18 September and closes on 30 October 2026.

The representations set out the Town Council’s views on the draft Local Plan, assessing its legal compliance, soundness and readiness for examination. Each representation identifies the relevant policy or supporting evidence, explains the Town Council’s concerns where it considers that a policy or proposal does not meet the required tests, and sets out the changes it believes are necessary.

The Town Council recognises the importance of the Local Plan in shaping the future of Radstock and the wider area. It is therefore keen to ensure that local considerations are properly represented and that residents have an opportunity to understand the issues raised and contribute their views.

To support this, Radstock Town Council is hosting two public drop-in sessions, inviting residents to view the representations document, discuss the issues raised and share any additional comments they would like the Town Council to consider.

Residents are warmly invited to drop into either of the following sessions:

Monday 19 October 2026: 6.00pm–7.00pm
Saturday 24 October 2026: 10.00am–12.00pm

Venue: Radstock Community Hub and Library, The Street, Radstock, BA3 3PR.

These sessions provide an opportunity for residents to find out more about the Town Council’s response to the draft Local Plan and help ensure that local perspectives are heard as the plan progresses towards examination.

So amazing to be part of this and meet so many amazing groups.

We're still buzzing from a fantastic Community Dragons' Den on October 1st. All the projects and ideas pitched were brilliant, but we're really pleased to share the details of the winners below, chosen by over 80 local residents! 🙂

Writhlington Community Hub Group - Will run an exciting and creative Talent Show and Christmas Celebration in the village hall for the residents of Writhlington.

Read Easy - Will provide free, confidential and one-to-one support that gives local adults the confidence and skills to read. Read Easy will pair them with a trained volunteer coach to work together through a specially designed programme, to quickly see improvements in their reading ability.

Little Lost Robot CIC - Will purchase a kiln for the community-creatives hub in Radstock, and will also run ceramics workshops so locals can learn and enhance their pottery skills.

SWALLOW Charity - Will support members to learn how to operate tools, and enable them to maintain gardens. They will offer this service to local elderly and disabled members of the community.

Radstock Food Club - Can now increase the amount and the variety of fresh and chilled food for families in and around Radstock who are facing food insecurity. With the purchase of a new fridge, they will also be able to keep any leftover perishable items for longer, reducing food waste and saving money.

Maria Honeker, Cancer Support Coach - Will provide an opportunity for local people living with cancer and cancer survivors to be supported through a difficult time, and celebrated for who they are, including a photoshoot and makeover project.

West of England Rural Network (WERN) - Will bring together a community of people who feel isolated in a friendly and welcoming space, and provide opportunities for the sharing of stories that connect them with the area.

Connections Day Service - will build a polytunnel and run sessions where their service users learn to grow, socialise and enjoy the outdoors all year round.

HeartTalks - Will support families experiencing pregnancy and baby loss – creating memory boxes that help them to have a meaningful and tangible way to create and preserve memories of their baby.

Radstock Library - Will bring to life "The Magic of Storymaking" - creating a special story space and a series of events that will provide regular opportunities for young children to share, contribute and make stories together in small groups.

Congratulations to all! 💫 And another huge thank you to The Roper Family Charitable Trust for doubling the funding pot.
