The Chair of Ramsgate Town Council, Councillor Stephen Albon, has led calls for local agencies to come together following the recent tragic incident in Ramsgate, securing an urgent meeting with Kent Police and local ward councillors to discuss community concerns and identify reassurance measures for residents.

Ramsgate Town Council remains committed to working with Kent Police, Thanet District Council and other partners to support residents and ensure that the town continues to be a welcoming and safe place for all.

Three weeks into the project and the scaffolding is complete, ready for the detailed work on the external walls of this fabulous Grade II listed building.

First on the schedule is the rendering.

Grade II Listed Buildings: Rendering is Different

Rendering a Grade II listed building is not quite the same as rendering a modern property.

With a listed building, it is not simply about how the finished render looks. The historic fabric, materials and character of the building all need to be considered.

Traditional materials such as lime render may be more appropriate than modern cement-based products, particularly on older solid-wall properties. Using the wrong materials can trap moisture and potentially damage the underlying masonry.

Before removing existing render or applying a new system, it is important to establish whether Listed Building Consent is required and, where appropriate, discuss the proposed work with the local Conservation Officer.

For a normal building, you have far more flexibility. For a listed property, the aim is to protect the building's character while carrying out the work correctly.

We are proud to be supporting the Thanet Games event at Ellington Park this Thursday, working alongside Thanet District Council and Friends of Ellington Park.
Come along from 11.30am to 2.30pm and join in the activities, all designed to promote wellbeing.
We will also be funding 50 lunches at Ellington Park Cafe (come and find our Gazebo with the Active Ramsgate flag outside to claim your lunch ticket!), free rides on the mini train track and 10 minute back massage tasters with Reconditioned Therapy
There are loads of free activities to try including Ramsgate Nordic Walking, Margate Yoga Studio, Disc Golf with Sports Connect UK and lots more! See you Thursday! 😁

Today, the Town Flag is flying at half-mast in memory of former Mayor of Ramsgate, Sid Farmer.

Sid served as Mayor of Ramsgate in 1990 and 1994.

On the day of his funeral, we remember his service to the town and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Salus is providing free Summer Gym Passes for young people aged 14–16 who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and can provide their HAF voucher details. The passes provide a four-week free gym membership at a local gym or leisure centre.
