Ramsgate Town Council

Ramsgate Town Council Ramsgate is a wonderful blend of maritime heritage, architectural finery and there's no better place to visit. Ramsgate is naturally appealing.

People have been escaping to the Isle of Thanet for more than 200 years, for the laidback seaside vibe, the breathtaking sandy beaches and fresh sea air, discovering a natural, relaxed and friendly place. Facing south is Ramsgate and its stunning Royal Harbour, unique in England. With a lively shopping area and regular traditional market, the town is excellent for food and eating, with little cafe

s, friendly pubs, excellent varied restaurants and a ‘café culture’ at the harbour-side – the perfect place for a relaxing time. Explore further and you’ll find a cultural core, a wealth of creative residents and a blossoming arts scene with galleries and new businesses emerging. By the harbour, Victorian arches host ship chandlers, boat sales, intriguing shops and artists’ studios - Ramsgate is all about finding hidden treasures and falling in love with a different way of life. Low chalk cliffs dominate the beach and edge the whole Thanet peninsula. Chalk rockpools and rare chalks reefs teem with wildlife yet these are the closest surfing beaches to London.

Thank you to Kt Bruce for this fabulous image taken this weekend. KT got some brilliant coverage of our weekend but this one was a firm favourite! Not only does it depict our 338: Ramsgate Remembers installation from Standing with Giants but it also celebrates the fantastic QRA CORPS of Drums" who did an amazing job for our Silent Return, We Are Shadows parades along with over seventy volunteer paraders who all dressed in black on the hottest weekend this year, in order to look the part! Bravo all of you! ❤️🛥️🛥️❤️

Dunkirk Little Ships Parade and Service – Sunday 24 May 2026
I am pleased to share these wonderful photographs taken by Colin Lunt of the NCI — the pictures truly speak for themselves.
What a remarkable parade and a deeply moving service. A sincere thank you to everyone who took part, and to Reverend Paul Worledge of St George’s Church for leading the service.
Despite the extremely high temperatures, it was heartening to see so many people turn out and show their support. Thank you all!

You may have spotted the 338 Standing With Giants silhouettes currently installed around Ramsgate Harbour, creating a powerful tribute for Operation Dynamo.

We’ve had a number of enquiries about whether these figures will be available to purchase once the installation ends – they will not be for sale.

However, Standing with Giants have a stall all weekend at our Operation Dynamo event, where you can learn more about their amazing work and purchase miniature figures for £25. The stall is located in the harbour near Pier Yard Car Park.

On Saturday 16th May, Ramsgate Town Council hosted a lunch at Radford House to celebrate and say thank you to the Ramsgate Litter Pickers.

Sixteen volunteers joined us for a fish and chip lunch and home-made cake. Maxine also placed questions on the table for everyone, which produced a wonderful result of chatting, laughing and discussions.

We are incredibly grateful to all the Ramsgate Litter Pickers volunteers for their hard work in helping to keep our streets tidy 🗑🚯
