Thank you for a lovely couple of hours this afternoon, Erleigh Road Community Garden team.

It was a pleasure to sit in the shade of the grapevine and enjoy a fresh mango lassi after browsing the plants for sale.

What a beautiful space and atmosphere you've created.

We've just emailed residents we've got email addresses for in roads affected about proposed road changes that are being considered as part of the 2025 Waiting Restrictions Programme.

The proposals in Redlands are:

- Making the double yellow lines more severe at the junction of Addington Road and Redlands Road and introducing bus stop road markings on Addington Road, to tackle congestion between Craven Road and Redlands Road.

- Upgrading the double yellow lines on the corner of Addington Road and Redlands Road to a loading ban to make it easier for traffic wardens to issue parking tickets for cars parked on the corners. (The bus stop prevents Blue Badge holders from parking here, creating a passing place.)

- Introducing two sections of double yellow lines on Upper Redlands Road to act as passing places to tackle congestion.

- Creating space for cars queueing on Allcroft Road at the junction with Kendrick Road (using double yellow lines).

- Introducing permit parking on Lower Mount.

To find out more about these or other schemes being considered, go to https://reading.govocal.com/en-GB/projects/waiting-restriction-review-programme-2025. Click on 'All drawings WRR2025 programme.pdf' for the drawings.

You can respond directly on the main consultation page or by email, quoting reference WRR2025. Responses are needed by 4 June.

If you would like to receive updates about issues like this by email, please email [email protected] and we can add you.

Thanks to The Reading Chronicle for contacting us for comment about impending closure of St Joseph's College...

Reacting to the news Ward Green Councillor Kathryn McCann, told The Reading Chronicle: "It was a shock to see that such a long-established Redlands institution is set to close. I'm concerned about the impact this will have on local children and have asked the council to do what it can to minimise disruption.

"We have already heard about parents of St Joseph's pupils applying for places at local state schools and being told their child would need to start straight away, rather than waiting until September. Obviously that would cause a lot of unnecessary stress. I have asked the council to consider advising local schools to allow places to be deferred until September.

"The council needs to do more to improve local state schools, so parents are less inclined to apply for places at fee-paying schools or outside the borough."

Ridgeline Trust, a brilliant horticultural therapy project on Hamilton Road, is holding a plant sale today. It's always a lovely occasion, and worth going even just for a wander around and tea and cake.

All funds taken contribute towards their work helping people benefit from the healing power of gardening.

It was a pleasure to join Cllr Louise Matron Keane on the Kidical Mass bike ride at the University of Reading Centenary Community Fair this afternoon.

There was a fantastic turnout, despite the threat of rain, and such a brilliant atmosphere.

Well done all!

Well done to Cllr Dave McElroy for making it to the Friends of Christchurch Green litter pick this morning, after working relentlessly over the past few weeks, campaigning for Green candidates across Reading. He brought two little helpers with him to tackle the litter in Cintra park.

Thank you to all who took part and organisers Caroline and Karen for helping to tidy up our neighbourhood.
