All activities are run with the aim of supporting all members of the community to lead full and active lives, enabling them to access and engage with further self development opportunities. Activities include the Childrens Study Support Scheme, Parenting classes, Homework and After School Parent & Child Computer Club, Employment Advice, Spoken English groups, Housing Surgeries, help with accessing council, health and other services, form filling and running a Self Service Community Laundry.

Reading Borough Libraries are celebrating another successful year of weekly rhymetime sessions with a special event at the Hexagon on Thursday 19th December. The Christmas show for pre-school children and their parents takes place from 11-11.45am

The Community Laundry is now open Monday 10 -2, Thursday and Friday 10 -5 . We have 2 extra large washing machines and 2 large dryers for use by anyone in the community .
Please bring your own washing powder & softener. Last wash will be accepted one hour before closing.

Our Parenting Group is starting again after half term.
10 -11.30 Thursdays at Sun Street Community Centre. Translation (to Urdu & Punjabi) is available for those with English as an additional language.

Following on from a rather tiring and full on week with boys during our half term study support week I have just had the most heart felt and genuine "thank you " from one of the group ...
and his face lit up with a huge smile when I said we are doing it all again during the Easter holidays! Makes it all worth while.

Newtown Information & Support Service runs an Employment Advice project every Monday from 10am -2pm. You can learn on line, access computers and advice for writing CV's and job applications and in the community garden learn how to grow your own food. If you are interested we can arrange first aid and food hygeine training. Appointments for training advice can be made by booking an appointment to see Zeba Rao from New Directions during this time . A good start for the New Year as New Year = new grant! We will be able to run our Holiday Study Support Projects for boys from Newtown & St Johns schools again. Looking forward to planning lots of fun activities.
