🏡 Have your say on Woodley’s future – draft Council Strategy Consultation

We’ve received lots of great suggestions so far about improving parks and green spaces – thank you. It’s great that you value these spaces as much as we do. All of your comments will all feed into our final Strategy.

Here’s a reminder about which parks and green spaces we look after:
🌳 Woodford Park
🌳 Malone Park
🌳 Wheble Park (we’re running a consultation until 21 August on a new play area design!)
🌳 Bulmershe Park (managed with Earley Town Council)
🌳 Rivermead Open Space
🌳 Loddon Mead Open Space

All other parks and open spaces in Woodley are managed by Wokingham Borough Council.

🏡 Have your say on Woodley’s future – draft Council Strategy Consultation

We’ve received lots of comments so far about services and facilities that are managed by Wokingham Borough Council. These issues are clearly a high priority for residents, and we are here to listen and do our best to support any concerns where we can.

The Town Council isn’t responsible for highways and roads, waste collection, health or education – all of which fall under Wokingham Borough Council. Here’s a reminder about what we look after:

🏡 Have your say on Woodley’s future – draft Council Strategy Consultation

We’ve received lots of great comments so far about improvements to the town centre. We hear and understand how important the Town Centre is for local residents; comments which will be considered when finalising our Strategy.

Do you know that the town centre and its events are managed by Woodley Town Centre Partnership which is a partnership between Woodley Town Council, Wokingham Borough Council and the Woodley Traders?

While we manage the town centre and host the markets and events, Wokingham Borough Council is responsible for the pathways, highways, some of the buildings – many are owned by private landlords – and facilities in the town centre.

Wokingham Borough Council is proposing changes to parking across the Borough and has an open consultation to get residents' views.

We are aware that many residents have concerns about the proposed introduction of parking charges at Ashenbury Park. While Woodley Town Council continues to support residents wherever possible on issues relating to borough services, decisions on these proposals will be made by Wokingham Borough Council, which is responsible for matters including parking charges, highways and borough-wide transport policies.

It is therefore important that residents take part in Wokingham Borough Council's consultation and make their views known. Whether you support or oppose the proposals, this is your opportunity to have your say.

🌱🏆 Woodley Allotments Best Plot Competition 2026

The Woodley Allotments Tenants Association has celebrated another fantastic year with its Best Plot Competition, with **double the number of entries compared with last year! 🎉

The awards were presented by the Mayor of Woodley, Cllr Darren Smith, at the Association’s Summer Social on Saturday 8 August.

🥇 1st: Ruth Wilson – Plot B24
🥈 2nd: Joanne Beresford – Plot H15
🥉 3rd: Catherine Hand – Plot F22

👏 Congratulations also to our runners-up: Becky May, Kay Macarthur, Shijo John and M Bacon.

Despite the challenging, hot and dry summer, the standard of the plots was impressive. A big thank you to everyone who took part, and to the hard-working committee for organising the competition and Summer Social.

Time is running out to help shape the future of Wheble Park's new play area!
