In the last General Election Tilehurst voted for Labour and Olivia Bailey. In Local Elections it’s been some time since Labour had a determined, local candidate. This is the year to have a new voice in Tilehurst.

Clive Taylor is our exceptionally hardworking Councillor in Tilehurst Birch Copse. It’s great to see him working with Caroline Basden, Labour Candidate in Tilehurst (Reading Borough Council).

It was great to help take action today towards resolving some local traffic problems.

Cllr Clive Taylor, from the Tilehurst Birch Copse ward in West Berkshire, had a local resident report the parking problems on City Road to him. This is always bad at school run time when it’s hard to get down the road and is especially dangerous for families with small children. When the West Berkshire team went out they noticed a lot of the issues were actually on the Reading Borough Council side - City Road is right on the council boundary.

I raised Cllr Taylor’s email with Cllr John Ennis, the lead Councillor for Transport and he referred me to the Parking Services team who were amazing - they contacted me the same day (today) and sent enforcement officers out this afternoon.

They happened to meet Cllr Taylor and the West Berkshire team and are now working together to make this area safer. A great result from the Labour team working together across council boundaries.
