It's been ages fellas. the proposed site is under water. which really properly sucks. The Environmental agency said it was in a flood zone and I laughed (kinda) thinking, water never gets as far as the rec. whaddafxck??????
Going to meet with the Parish guys in the new year to discuss relocation possibilities. You guys got any ideas? we racked our brains for somewhere other than where the basketball hoop is (reason being that there'd be a track to it right across both football pitches which would immediately cause grief between you lot and the folk who use the pitches every week) so if you can think of anywhere then that would rock.
To be honest after seeing the state of the rec we're kinda up against having a park built there.
Do not lose faith though.
It's miserable and wet and slippy out so don't be a klutz and stick the brain bucket on ok?
have a great new year x

Hey you lot. The Environmental Agency are suggesting that the proposed site might be too close to the water table and thus could be prone to flooding.
Watch this space.
On a brighter note £5000 pounds has been pledged by Newbury Council when/if we can get planning permission.

LIDS LIDS LIDS LIDS LIDS etc

The Parish meeting this evening went very well. Very well.
The Charities Commision, who own the land where the proposed park will hopefully be situated, have granted permission for us to be able to build on their recreation ground which is brilliant news because without permission there'd definitely be nothing doing.
But before you lot start spraying wd40 on your bearings there's a long way to go, like getting planning permission and then the small matter of getting this thing passed at a public council meeting (when I hope you'll all turn up and put your hands in the air when it comes to the vote) and getting the people who will vote against us to open their minds to having this great facility down the rec'... not to mention the massing of lots of money, lots of money to get it built should all the other things completely work out right.
But hey, yours is not to worry about all the other malarkey that i've just written down, just know that we are getting there, slowly but very surely we're getting there.
Please, whether you ride a slick BMX, a beaten up deck or a fast rolling scooter your head is stuck up on top and has the furthest to fall and man we've all seen the You Tube clips of face plants and head cracks. It only takes one big hit to turn your life upside down and put you in a chair for life. Putting on a crash helmet is the best thing you'll do all day.
We're one step nearer. I'll keep you posted.
Paul.

We've got another meeting with the Parish Council on June 12.

23/03/2012

Had a meeting last night with the Parish Councillors involved in this project and Mark Clogg of Maverick skateparks. It went great, the guys we spoke to are really enthusiastic about having an amenity on the recreation ground for you all. Got to meet the rest of the council in May and do the same, then all of you who live in Pangbourne must come to the big parish meeting in June and when it comes to the vote stick your hands in the air and please show your support.

Guys, every meeting like this, though not necessarily the most interesting news, is one more step and one more step in the right direction. What I'm saying is that we're getting there.

vandalism of the park and park area is doing damage to this cause and is therefore going to potentially ruin your chances of having a skatepark. Guys, if you know anyone who's doing it ffs tell them to knock it on the head.

The Sun's going to be out this weekend so have a good one...and if you're out and riding/boarding/scooting then put the brain bucket on and if you haven't got a lid put an actual bucket on your head !!!

Safe riding.

Paul

if you're out this weekend biking, boarding or scootin' put the brain bucket on, last thing you want is to smash your skull so badly that your mum's still changing your bum when you're thirty years old.

Tell your mates if they aren't on here so's we can get as many heads as we can to show that we're serious about getting a park built in our village.
I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything back from whoever about whatever.

Hey Ilic.
Welcome to the Pangbourne Skate Group mate. fantastic that you 'liked' us, very much appreciated.
Have a rich new year from us lot over here, and hey, as i say to everyone that'll listen at least wear a crash hat to put between your brains and the pavement.

Just want to mention the riders and boarders over at Little Heath Park. It gets muddy over in the corner where the park has been constructed and loads of mud gets onto the concrete but fair play to them they get over there with shovels and brooms keeping it as clean and safe to ride on as they can (who wants to loose their front teeth because of a load of sh... mud on the half pipe) .
Much Kudos to all of you.
They've been promised an extension to the existing park if they 'self maintain' it.
Which they do to the best of their abilities.
Seems to me a no brainer because the mud will keep on coming as mud does unless a little more park is constructed over the mud area.
thanks for your time chatting with me fellas...and fergawdssakes wear some head protection x
Paul.
