🎉 Community Youth Day - 28th October 2026 🎉
We're excited to be hosting our first Community Youth Day on School Green and at the School Green Centre.

Young people often tell us they would like more things to do and more opportunities to get involved locally. Community Youth Day is about bringing some of those opportunities together in one place.

This FREE event is aimed at young people aged 11 to 18, with all young people welcome to come along, take part in activities, meet new friends, and find out what opportunities are available in the local area.

Do you have a story to tell? Join local journalist and author Vanessa Holburn for an introduction to the art of life writing – from journals and diaries to longer biographies and memoirs. On the day, discover the joy of writing through carefully selected readings presented alongside prompts for you to try. You’ll leave with tips and tricks to inspire a regular writing practice. Life writing can help you process emotions and events, past and present and is a great way to preserve family histories for later generations. What to bring:

David Palin is a Berkshire-based author known primarily for dark psychological thrillers, crime fiction and suspense novels. He was born in West London, studied English and German, and has written novels, screenplays, and collaborated with other writers. https://www.davidpalinauthor.com/

Julie Cohen
A creative writing lecturer and popular workshop leader, she is the author of acclaimed novels including TOGETHER and SPIRITED, and currently writes funny, feminist thrillers under the name Julie Mae Cohen. Claire Dyer is an award-winning Berkshire novelist and poet whose books include What We Thought We Knew, The Significant Others of Odie May and The Last Day. Chris Dewar the author of The Dyrne Hill Series of books. She was born in Weybridge, Surrey into a very large and extended family and spent most of my childhood roaming wild on my bike, building camps whenever and wherever I could, or making up stories of mysteries, treasure and ghosts for my siblings and cousins to enjoy reading. As a young adult I travelled but finally settled in Berkshire with my husband and three children.
