Fancy discovering a little more about the fascinating history beneath your feet?

Join us today at Reculver Towers & Roman Fort for two volunteer led short talks exploring different chapters of Reculver’s remarkable past.

🏛️ The History of St Mary’s Church
Explore the story of the church from the 10th to the 19th century, and discover how this remarkable building changed over time.
🕚 11am & 2pm

🏺 Tour of Regulbium – The Remains Beneath Your Feet
Take a closer look at the remains of the Roman fort and discover what once stood here nearly 2,000 years ago.
🕛 12pm & 3pm

The North Tower will be open from 10am-4pm

All talks are free to join and there’s no need to book, just come along and meet us at the Towers.

Why not make a day of it? While you're at Reculver, don't forget there's plenty more happening today!

⚠️ Unfortunately, due to the poor weather forecast for tomorrow, Saturday 29 August, Reculver Towers will not be opening as scheduled.

The forecast for Sunday 30th and Bank Holiday Monday 31st is looking much better, so we’re hoping to open the Towers on both days from 10am–4pm. 🤞

We’ll keep you updated if anything changes.

🌘 IT'S ECLIPSE DAY! 🌘

If you’re planning on joining us at Reculver Towers & Roman Fort this evening for the partial solar eclipse, we’re looking forward to welcoming you!

🕕 6.00pm – 8.30pm

🚗 A quick word about parking
We are expecting this to be a very popular evening, so please plan ahead and allow plenty of time for parking.
Please park sensibly and responsibly.
❌ Do not park on private property
❌ Do not block roads, access points or driveways
❌ Do not obstruct emergency access
❌ Please don't leave vehicles in places where they could cause inconvenience or danger to local residents.

Please follow any parking restrictions and instructions from site staff and volunteers, and consider arriving early.

🌘 Only 2 Days to Go! 🌘

Join us on Wednesday 12th August, 6.00pm–8.30pm, for a special evening at Reculver Towers & Roman Fort as we witness one of nature's most spectacular celestial events.

Although the UK won't experience totality, this will still be a remarkable eclipse to witness, with around 90% of the Sun expected to be covered from Kent, creating an unforgettable sight.

The last total solar eclipse visible from the UK was in 1999, and the next won't be until 2090, making this a fantastic opportunity to experience an eclipse with fellow enthusiasts.

In partnership with SEKAS (South East Kent Astronomical Society), we'll have:

🌌 Expert astronomers on hand to answer your questions

Whether you're an experienced astronomer or simply curious, everyone is welcome to join us for this rare and exciting event.
