Dispersal order planned for Redditch United football match

We are advising members of the public we are planning to put a dispersal order in place for Redditch United’s football match against Halesowen Town on Bank Holiday Monday.

While we recognise most football supporters are well behaved and are looking forward to the derby day for the right reasons, we also want to protect them and the wider community from those who may seek to cause trouble.

West Mercia Police is working with both clubs, partner agencies and colleagues at West Midlands Police and British Transport Police to counteract any potential anti-social behaviour or disorder on Monday (31 August).

Therefore, members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence near The Valley Stadium and train station on Bromsgrove Road, as well as around Redditch town centre before, during and after the match which starts at 3pm.

Plans are in place to keep people safe and make sure everyone can enjoy the football match peacefully, including plans for a Section 35 dispersal order under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014 which is for the mapped area shown.

The order, that would be in place from 11am until 7pm, gives officers the power to exclude members of the public who cause anti-social behaviour or disorder or where there is a reasonable belief that they may cause such behaviour.

Superintendent Helen Wain said: “We are expecting a large crowd at Monday’s game with potentially more than 1,000 supporters attending.

“We recognise the vast majority of fans are there to enjoy the derby game but also want to protect everybody from a minority who could potentially cause trouble.

“If you notice more officers around the town centre on Monday, this should not alarm you. They are there to help and to prevent any anti-social behaviour or disorder and the planned dispersal order is in place to support these ends.

“Please approach the officers if you need to and they will happily assist in any way they can.”

The Headless Cross and Oakenshaw Safer Neighborhood Team have seized this vehicle in Oakenshaw today for being on the road and holding no tax.
Remember you can check if a vehicle is taxed and report vehicles for no tax here - https://orlo.uk/IOkCd

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) - also known as vehicle tax, car tax or road tax - must be paid on most vehicles registered in the UK.
Any motorist caught driving without it could be fined up to £2,500.
In 2025, more than 150,000 untaxed vehicles were clamped in the UK.
That's why it's important that you tax your vehicle correctly and on time.

SENTENCED | A child ra**st who also committed multiple other sexual abuses of children was sentenced to 27 years in prison at court yesterday (Thursday 13 August).

Luke Simon, 42, of Redditch, was found guilty at Worcester Crown Court of 22 child sexual offences that took place between in the past decade.

These were two counts of r**e of a child under 13 and 20 sexual assaults on children under 13 for which he was sentenced to 27 years.

Simon was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a restraining order was also put in place.

His offences, which were against more than one child, were brought to light in 2023 and sparked an investigation by West Mercia Police’s Protecting People Unit (PPU) which resulted in yesterday’s sentencing.

Detective Sergeant Izabela Majchrzyk from PPU said: “We would like to pay tribute to the survivors of Simon’s vile predatory actions for their courage in coming forward and giving us the evidence that has led to this successful conviction.

“We hope today’s sentencing will help them to move on with their lives and that it encourages other survivors of sexual abuse to come forward.

“Our message to anyone who has suffered similar abuses is we will always listen to you and act where appropriate no matter how long ago the offences took place.”

• You can find advice about child abuse and child sexual exploitation via the links under this section of our website here https://orlo.uk/rYGMx .
