St Bede’s New Year 12 Induction Day!

Yesterday we welcomed Year 11 students and gave them a glimpse into life as a sixth former at our school.
From engaging taster lessons and free lunch to meeting staff and students, the day was packed with exciting opportunities and experiences.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and made the day such a success.
We loved seeing the enthusiasm, participation, and curiosity from all involved.

Before half term, Year 12 students were given the opportunity to visit the University of Sussex and St Hilda’s College, Oxford to experience life on campus. As a key part of our Sixth Form Careers and Excellence programmes, these visits help students to clarify their personal goals and teach them how to get the most out of their own independent open day visits. From interactive taster lectures and campus tours to talks from student ambassadors about finance and accommodation, the visits give students a true taste of university life and a clear roadmap on how to make it happen.

Last half term, our Year 10 students took part in an immersive and engaging visit to the Centre for Experimental Military Archaeology, where they experienced first-hand what life was like for soldiers during the First World War.

One of the highlights of the trip was the opportunity to walk through detailed replica British and German trenches, helping students gain a real sense of the conditions faced by those fighting on the Western Front.

This was a hugely enjoyable and educational experience which brought their classroom learning vividly to life.
