A huge congratulations to one of our amazing Senior Occupational Therapist, Louise, on winning silver with Team GB at the Women’s Ice Hockey World Championships! 🏒🎊
At Surrey, we’re proud to support colleagues to thrive both in and outside of work, whether that’s elite sport, volunteering, caring responsibilities or creative projects! Speaking about managing both her hockey commitments and her role at Surrey, Louise shares:
“Balancing elite sport with a professional role isn’t something I could do without support. I’m incredibly grateful for how accommodating and understanding Surrey has been.
If I could offer one piece of advice to colleagues with big ambitions outside of work, it would be this, enjoy what you do. When you’re having fun, you perform at your best. Balancing work and passion projects comes down to communication, organisation and not feeling like you have to sacrifice one dream for another.
Sport has given me skills that I use every day at work such as teamwork, resilience and leadership above all. Having been part of teams from such a young age, collaboration comes naturally to me, and I love being part of the Learning Disabilities & Autism East (LD&A) team. As a senior OT, I can clearly see how hockey has shaped my leadership style and my ability to work with others towards shared goals”.
Join us in celebrating Louise’s incredible achievement 🥳
