A man has today become the fifth member of an organised crime gang to be jailed for his part in a campaign of vehicle thefts.

Between January and March 2025, a Lithuanian Organised Crime Group (OCG) targeted high value vehicles, using keyless relay attacks across North Wales and Cheshire, cumulating in the theft of 8 vehicles and attempts on a further 5 totalling a value of £320,000.

The gang primarily targeted Mercedes and BMW vehicles across Llandudno, Llandudno Junction, Penrhyn Bay, Abergele, Rhyl, Prestatyn, Northwich and Crewe.

PC Edwards & PCSO Jones from the Abergele Neighbourhood Policing Team, recently visited the Warm Hub- based in Bodelwyddan Community Centre.

The Community Warm Hub within Bodelwyddan Community Centre is open every Tuesday 10am-12pm, there is a foodbank, children's play corner, book swap and people to talk too, everyone is welcome to attend.

Glyn Edwards PC3200 and PCSO C2928 from the Abergele Neighbourhood Policing Team held an important awareness event at Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan on Wednesday, sharing advice, information, and safety resources to help protect women and girls from violence and abuse.

They provided helpful leaflets and information about practical safety measures, including giving out personal safety alarms and drink-spiking prevention bottle stoppers/covers, which help prevent drinks from being tampered with.

The event was all about raising awareness, sharing advice, and making sure women and girls know that support is available.

Every woman and girl deserves to feel safe, respected, and protected from abuse.

One male decided to take a drive in a car that was not insured and he did not hold a license. He was found by our team and tested positive at the roadside for Cannabis. Quite the hat trick, but not one we’d recommend ….

🚓 Denbighshire Coastal Policing Update | Last 24 Hours

A quick look at what your local officers have been dealing with over the past 24 hours.

📊 The Numbers • 43 total incidents attended
• 21 recorded crimes
• 5 arrests made for a range of offences, including:

Possession of an offensive weapon
Driving whilst over the alcohol limit
Harassment causing fear of violence
Driving with a specified controlled drug above the legal limit

🏠 Domestic Incidents Officers attended several domestic-related incidents across the area. These incidents are always treated as a priority, with safeguarding and support at the forefront of our response.

🚔 Response & Neighbourhood Policing Alongside responding to live incidents, officers have continued progressing investigations and dealing with neighbourhood concerns raised by the community.

👏 Community Shout-Out A huge thank you to a member of the public who kindly gave one of our officers a lift back to Abergele after their patrol bike suffered a flat tyre. Your assistance helped get the bike repaired quickly and the officer back out on patrol supporting the community.

🛴 E-Scooter Update An e-scooter was seized during bike patrols.

💪 Our officers and PCSOs continue to respond to incidents, investigate offences and carry out proactive patrols across the area.

🚓 4 arrests in the area in the last 24 hours with one waking up to an English breakfast à la custody.

📝Incidents reported: 40, 16 recorded as crimes
🚓Arrests: 4, Drug Driving, Possession of an Offensive Weapon, Warrant and Common Assault

👮🏻‍♀️Other notable activity:
A male was arrested yesterday in the Rhyl area on suspicion of Possession of an Offensive Weapon after being sighted in possession of a crowbar. Further offences have been reported and are being investigated and the male has been released on conditional bail.

🚨 JOINT OPERATION TARGETS ILLEGAL TO***CO AND VAPES 🚨

Officers have been out conducting a joint operation targeting the sale and supply of illegal to***co and vapes across Denbighshire.

Working alongside Denbighshire County Council Trading Standards, Immigration Enforcement and Wagtails sniffer dogs, we visited three shops across Rhyl, Denbigh and Prestatyn.

🐕‍🦺 And our four-legged colleagues certainly earned their treats! They were on the right scent, using their specialist noses to help officers locate concealed to***co and va**ng products.

One of the dogs was heard saying:

🐾 “I’ve got a nose for this sort of thing.”

Another apparently commented:

🐾 “You can hide it, but you can’t hide it from me.”

We’ll let you decide whether those quotes are accurate… 😏

The operation forms part of our ongoing work to tackle the sale of illicit to***co and illegal va**ng products, protecting legitimate businesses and helping to reduce the availability of these products within our communities.
