Save M&S Rhyl from closure

Save M&S Rhyl from closure Keeping M&S the lynchpin of Rhyl Town Centre open It's been there for 81 years and is the best-loved shop in Rhyl Town Centre. It's the end of an era.

Now Marks & Spencers is planning to leave. We are worried about the effect it will have on the already decimated Rhyl Town Centre and can't imagine our town without an M&S. Plus there are elderly people who shop there every day, see their friends there and will be too infirm to travel to the new store in Prestatyn. M&S has made millions out of Rhyl in the past decades - we're asking them to rethink their business plans to keep the heart pumping in our town.

Hello all, thank you again for all your loyal support. But, as this page is now redundant, I'm hoping you will join me on my other page We Love Rhyl. It's there to bring you the best of our town. See you there x

Hello - not about M&S, granted, but even more important....please get involved if you want Glan Clwyd to stay as it is and now downgraded..do we really want to see emergency cases taken all the way to bangor and wrexham. Please try and come to the public meeting to show them we are up for a fight on this -only if it's for 30 mins. It's on monday. See you there.

I have heard again today that m&s is looking for premises on rhyl town centre. Apparently the Next site is too small...they need bigger premises. This was from a different person from yesterday but an equally solid source.

I keep hearing rumours that m&s is planning a food only store in rhyl. Have dismissed this before as wishful thinking but have heard it yet again today from a good source. Anyone else kbow or heard anything about this?

Merry Christmas to you all and a very merry and prosperous New Year.

Snapped this window display inspired by Shirley Eaton in Goldfinger in Selfridges this week and it got me thinking.... is there any way next xmas we could get Rhyl retailers teaming up with the local art, retail, design colleges to do a xmas window display comp? Could be a way of attracting people into the town centre....

On that note, signing off for 2013. See you next year, I hope x

This christmas cake tastes as good at it looks. We scarfed it today at work. Going to Rhyl Morrisons to pick up another this weekend...and its award-winning Signature Stilton. (Who needs M&S, eh?)

Hope everyone in Rhyl is supporting Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Town Centre stores all of whom have stayed in and supported Rhyl. Please try and spend your cash strategically to support those businesses who support our town - not those who've turned their backs on Rhyl.

Merry Christmas everyone x

Here's some great reasons to do your Xmas food shopping in Rhyl this year (apart from rewarding the retailers loyal to the town)

* Morrisons Signature Stilton beat Harrods, Fortnum & Mason and M&S in a blind xmas food and drink taste test by Good Housekeeping Magazine. It came out as their overall winner of the whole 13 categories- they said it was a 'real bargain.'

* Morrisons also came out tops in the turkey category: for stuffing (their fruit & cognac stuffing balls) and runner up in the Mulled Wine category.

* The Co-Op's Brandy Butter with Courvoiser & VS Cognac came top in that category (Morrisons runner up)

* Co-Op also came top for its Truly Irrestible Cranberry Sauce.

* Aldi was tops for Christmas Pud. And Sainsbury's won the Christmas Cake category.

Full results are in Good Housekeeping, out now

Some of my comments re the £23.3million West Rhyl regeneration project have been published in today's journal, page 27. There's loads more in the full letter which is published on my other FB page The Rhyl Promenade. What do you think about the plans? I welcome all comments - whether you agree with me or not.
