The Jubilee Cottages Housing Trust Management Committee manages a cottage in Shepherds Way, offering young Ringmer families an affordable, reduced rent for up to three years. The cottage will become available shortly, with occupancy expected towards the end of the year.

The property is a two-bedroom, semi-detached bungalow with a garden and off-road parking, but no garage.

Fingerpost Field

The Parish Council is looking at ways we can improve Fingerpost Field and add new facilities for the community.

To help shape the plans, Cllr West will be at the field on Sunday 11th October at 3pm to hear your ideas and suggestions.

We’d particularly love to hear from anyone who uses pump tracks. If you have experience of them, come along and let us know what you think a potential pump track at Fingerpost Field should include. 🚴‍♀️

Everyone is welcome – come along, share your thoughts and help us make the most of this great community space!

Village Green Path

Our contractor has carried out a temporary repair to the concrete footpath across the green, running from the main road towards the churchyard.

To help the repair set properly, please avoid walking on the tarmac for the next 48 hours while it hardens.

Update from East Sussex Highways - Cuilfail tunnel clean in Lewes

Our latest scheduled maintenance closure at the Cuilfail Tunnel, has now been completed, with teams successfully carrying out the tunnel's quarterly clean.
The tunnel is cleaned four times a year, in March, June, September and December, as part of an ongoing programme of essential maintenance. These closures allow teams to thoroughly clean the tunnel, as well as inspect and service key lighting and safety systems to help keep the route operating safely and reliably.
During the latest closure, the opportunity was also taken to complete an inspection of the nearby bridge close to Southerham Roundabout, helping to make the most of planned traffic management and minimise future disruption.
By carrying out these inspections and maintenance activities, we can help keep this important piece of highway infrastructure safe, operational and fit for the future.

POND UPDATE
The initial pond works following the survey recommendations have been completed. The Conservation Volunteers led a group tasked with:
• Cutting back laurel and removing bamboo
• Managing vegetation around the northern bank while retaining native plants for wildlife
• Removing litter from around the pond and along the accessible waterline.
Thank you Newtimber Land Management Ltd for providing the waste bags and for kindly removing the significant amount of waste and debris for us.
We know residents have different views about how the pond should look, with some preferring a neat and tidy appearance. However, natural features can provide valuable habitat for wildlife. In particular, the fallen willow provides excellent shelter and habitat for insects, waterbirds and other pond life.
The aim is to find the right balance between keeping the pond looking cared for while allowing nature to thrive. 🦋🌱🦆
