Ringwood Town Council is the parish authority for the town of Ringwood. It is the third tier of local government, after Hampshire County Council and New Forest District Council. The Council is made up of 14 elected Councillors, who live in the area and take account of the views of local residents. The Councillors are supported by a small team of staff led by the Town Clerk.

The Town Council has received a positive independent audit report, confirming strong financial management, governance and internal controls.

The review found a “generally sound” system in place with no high-priority issues. It highlighted good practices across key areas such as financial monitoring, payments, payroll, asset management, and compliance.

Only two minor improvement points were identified, and action is already underway.

This provides reassurance that public money is being managed properly and transparently for the benefit of the community.

Cemetery Extension Project – Progress Update

We are pleased to share the latest progress on the Cemetery Extension project.

Over recent weeks, significant groundwork has been undertaken to transform the site and prepare it for future use. This has included the clearance of debris and remnants from the former allotments, extensive ground levelling works, installation of drainage infrastructure and the extension of the existing pathway network.

The photographs show the remarkable progress that has been made, comparing the site earlier this year with its current condition.

Subject to weather conditions, the next stage will see the site prepared for seeding in the coming weeks, bringing us a step closer to creating a peaceful and attractive extension to the cemetery for the community.

We look forward to sharing further updates as the project continues.

We’re pleased to share that the taxi shelter on Meeting House Lane has recently undergone a full refurbishment.

The shelter has been thoroughly cleaned, freshly repainted, and broken panels have been replaced, resulting in a brighter, safer, and more welcoming space for passengers, and contributing more positively to the local streetscape.

We hope the improvements make waiting for a taxi more comfortable, whatever the weather ☔🚖

📢 Moortown Lane Development Update

Work on the new housing development off Moortown Lane will be starting soon.

In the first phase of 150 homes:

Persimmon Homes (Charles Church) will be building 99 (Phase 1A)
Crest Nicholson will be building 51

Both companies will be working together to deliver the whole site, with further planning applications to come for Phase 2 and supporting infrastructure.

A representative from Permission Homes (Charles Church) will be attending our monthly Planning, Town & Environment Committee meetings to give updates and answer questions.

To keep things fair and consistent, they’ve asked that any questions from residents are sent via the Town Council, rather than directly. We’ll gather queries each month, pass them on, and share any relevant responses.
