🌿 Crow Stream Clearance Works Completed Ahead of Autumn and Winter 🌿

Our grounds team has recently completed clearance works on a section of the Crow Stream adjacent to Public Footpath 41a under the Parish Lengthsman Scheme.

The work involved clearing vegetation from the stream bed and banks, removing obstructions and improving access along the footpath. These improvements will help increase the stream's capacity during periods of heavy rainfall and reduce the severity of flooding downstream, particularly in the area below the railway line and around Crow Crossroads.

The Crow Stream plays an important role in draining the surrounding catchment area, and maintaining its flow capacity helps reduce the frequency and severity of local flooding events.

📅 Annual Crow Stream Volunteer Clearance - Thursday 1 October 2026

This long-running community maintenance programme has made a significant contribution to reducing flood risk and improving the condition of the stream over the past decade.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact us in advance so that teams and work areas can be organised. New volunteers are always welcome.

💧 A reminder to riparian owners: If you own land adjoining a stream, watercourse or ditch, you may have legal responsibilities for its maintenance. Hampshire County Council's guidance can be found here: https://www.hants.gov.uk/landplanningandenvironment/environment/flooding/landowners

By working together, residents, landowners, volunteers and public bodies can help reduce flood risk and maintain the effectiveness of the local drainage network.

🚨 Ringwood 999 Day – CANCELLED 🚨
We’re very sorry to let you know that Ringwood 999 Day has been cancelled due to our fire service continuing their work to manage the fire in the New Forest by the A31.
We want to say a huge thank you to the firefighters and emergency services working at the scene. Their priority must be, quite rightly, dealing with this serious incident.
Please join us in thanking our amazing fire service for the vital work they do.

🚲 Ringwood residents can take advantage of this free bike marking session at Ringwood Gateway this Thursday 13 August, from 1pm to 2pm. A quick and easy way to help protect your bike and improve the chances of it being returned if recovered.

Registering and marking your bicycle means it’s less likely to be stolen by thieves because they’re much more difficult to sell on. 🚲

When a bicycle has been registered and marked it’s easier to prove it’s yours and helps our officers to return it to you if it’s recovered.

Get your bicycle registered and marked this summer by bringing it to one of our sessions:

• Wednesday 12 August between 10am-11am at Lymington Train Station.
• Thursday 13 August between 1pm – 2pm at Ringwood Gateway Council Offices.
• Friday 14 August between 11am – 12pm at Lyndhurst Police Station.
• Wednesday 19 August between 2pm – 3pm at Totton Police Station.
• Friday 21 August between 10am – 11am at Boost Bike Hub Brockenhurst.
• Saturday 5 September between 12pm – 2pm at Ashurst Village Fete.

If you notice any suspicious behaviour around bicycles or have information about a theft report it to the police on 101 or via our website.

🌊 Crow Stream Annual Clearance – Volunteers Needed! 🌿

Can you spare a few hours to help protect our community from flooding and preserve the local environment?

We're looking for volunteers to join the annual clearance of Crow Stream – a vital community effort that helps reduce flood risk and supports local wildlife. Thanks to the ongoing work of residents and volunteers over the years, we've seen big improvements, but keeping the stream flowing freely takes teamwork!

💪 What you’ll do:
You’ll be part of a small team clearing weeds and debris from the stream bed and banks along your allocated “beat”. No experience needed, just a willingness to muck in!

The more hands we have, the lighter the work, and it’s a great way to meet neighbours and make a difference.

At last week's Council meeting, the Town Mayor was delighted to present certificates to representatives from Greyfriars Community Centre and Wildlife Rescue - Moyles Court, recognising the donations raised through the charity auction held during Ringwood's 800th Market Charter Anniversary Celebrations on 12 July.

As part of the celebrations, Ringwood Auctions hosted a traditional auction that paid tribute to the town's long market history and raised almost £400 for local good causes.

The funds raised were shared equally, with Greyfriars Community Centre and Moyles Court Wildlife Rescue each receiving £194.46 to support their valuable work in the local community.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the auction and helped make this fundraising effort such a success. 👏
