🚨📰📣 IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO AMBER VALLEY RESIDENTS ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT REORGANISATION! 📣📰🚨
Today’s announcement is nothing short of a betrayal of Amber Valley. Labour ministers have deliberately chosen the option that causes the greatest damage to our communities, despite the fact that a clear majority of residents backed Option A - keeping Amber Valley together and moving north. Labour asked people for their views, then ignored them. It is contemptuous, cynical, and completely unacceptable.
This is a political carve‑up dressed up as reform. Labour has chosen to split Amber Valley because it suits their agenda, not because it serves local people. They have overridden the democratic voice of our residents and imposed a decision that no one here asked for. Amber Valley will suffer more disruption than any other part of Derbyshire, and Labour simply does not care.
The consequences will be severe. Our council will be forced to dismantle services that have always been delivered as a single, efficient system. No other Derbyshire council will face this level of chaos. Labour has knowingly created a mess that our residents will be left to deal with for decades.
And what awaits the southern parishes? A new authority where they will be forgotten by Derby and treated as expendable. Under Labour’s plan, these communities will become a dumping ground for massive housing allocations, with little regard for infrastructure, identity, or local priorities. It is a disgraceful way to treat proud villages and towns that have repeatedly made their voices heard.
Amber Valley spoke clearly. Labour chose not to listen. Amber Valley Conservatives will continue fighting for our residents, because they deserve better than a government that ignores them, divides them, and damages their future.
