End with a bang on this 8 mile group walk from Brimham Rocks to Fountains Abbey, on Sunday 31 May.

Head on this ancient trail, following in the footsteps of the Cistercian monks, and be met with expansive views along the way.

This walk will set off from the car park at 11am and will take approximately 5 hours - including a morning coffee break and a picnic stop (don't forget to bring your own refreshments and picnic).
You don't need to worry about walking back to Brimham Rocks as we'll be heading back on the DalesBus825 service from Fountains Abbey at 4:39pm. The bus fare back costs £3.

Don't skip your tick checks (try saying that five times)!

With all this warm weather, Brimham’s moorland is becoming the perfect hangout for ticks. While you’re out exploring, it’s a good idea to stay tick aware. Ticks feed on the blood of animals (and sometimes people). They don’t fly or jump, they simply wait on vegetation for someone to brush past.

Here are some top tips to stay tick aware:
1. Stick to clear paths where possible to avoid brushing against the heather.
2. Wear long sleeves and tuck trousers into socks to make it harder for ticks to reach your skin. If vegetation is long, it's worth tucking your top into your trousers too.
3. Choose light‑coloured clothing so ticks are easier to spot and brush off.
4. Use insect repellent on exposed skin and clothing if you have it.
5. Do a tick check when you get home, especially behind knees, under arms, around the waist, and in hairlines.

If you find a tick, remove it as soon as possible using a tick remover or fine‑tipped tweezers, pulling it out straight and steady (without twisting). Clean the area afterwards and keep an eye on the bite for a few weeks. Seek medical advice if you’re concerned.

Looks like someone told the weather it’s Bank Holiday weekend!

The sun is shining, car parks are open, the coffee machines have warmed up and we're ready to welcome you. If you’re planning a visit, here are a few simple ways you can help keep this place safe and special for everyone:

🐕Remember to keep your dog on a lead. With the cattle returning to the moor, grazing livestock on neighbouring farmland and it being ground nesting bird season, it's really important to keep your dog on a short lead at all times.

🔥Please leave barbecues and camp fires at home. You’re very welcome to bring a picnic but if you're after something warm, head to the refreshment kiosk... it'll taste better knowing the pennies you spend go back into looking after this special place.

🗑 Leave no trace, pick up your litter and leave gates as you find them. Please park considerately and do not block field gates as farmers need access at all times.

Thank you for helping us look after this special place 🙏

There are some new friendly faces making their home on the heather moorland... the Belties are back!

These conservation grazers will be hard at work over the next 5 months, helping us care for this special landscape. From improving the soil quality to supporting the heather and creating better habitats for ground-nesting birds and invertebrates, their hard work helps us protect and preserve this rare habitat for the future.

If you're visiting, please remember to keep dogs on leads at all times, especially around the moorland and neighbouring farmland where animals are grazing too.

The bluebells will soon be over for another year so if your planning a wander along the woodland paths, this week could be your last chance to see them!

Top tip: to see the best of the bluebells head along the Woodland Walk (marked with orange way markers). It's 1.6 miles long but, don't worry, head to the kiosk on your way back and we'll get the kettle on.
