Surely the person who dumped this fridge didn't think it was going to fit in that bin?

Dumping items next to a bin is still fly-tipping, whether it's a bag or a fridge.

If you're booking a waste carrier, please do your checks, so items like these don't get discarded in your neighbourhood.

Free bulky waste collections are still available and you can book three weeks in advance on the morning of your usual bin collection.

There's no excuses for fly-tipping.

Don’t forget to pay a visit to the new Ealees Valley Community Hub event at Hollingworth Lake Country Park tomorrow. There’s lots of fabulous craft activities to get involved with 🙌

The nearest car park is by the RSPCA centre, Rakewood Road, then it’s a 5 minute walk down Ealees.

That’s why it pays to check before you book.

✅ Ask for a waste carrier licence
✅ Check the number on the Environment Agency register
✅ Check you’ll get a receipt

*Update on proposals for new burial space in Heywood*

We would like to clarify the situation around a proposal to create new burial provision at Summit Street in Heywood following some misinformation which has been circulating online.

We’re looking at these proposals because a recent review of burial capacity around the borough identified the need for additional burial space for all residents.

Summit Street has been identified as a possible location for this new burial ground, but no decisions have been made as yet. To be absolutely clear, contrary to some comments which have been circulating online, this cemetery will be open to people of all faiths and none.

A number of things need to be happen before any final decision is made on this proposal. A report is set to go to the council’s next cabinet meeting in November and if they approve the proposals going to the next stage, a full public consultation will take place.

A planning application would also need to be submitted in due course, which the public would be able to give their views on, like they would with any planning application.

We will update you again after the November cabinet meeting.
