We want to hear about your experiences using Healthwatch in Greater Manchester and your thoughts on how you give feedback or raise concerns about health and care services.

A new Bill has been published that proposes significant changes to how people’s voices are heard in health and social care. The NHS Modernisation Bill sets out proposals that would abolish Healthwatch and our organisations would end and you would have to share your feedback through the NHS and councils.
It is important to emphasise that these are proposals at this stage. The Bill will go through Parliament and may be subject to amendment before any changes are finalised.

For now, nothing has changed in practice. Local Healthwatch continue to listen to people’s experiences of care, provide information and advice about local services and share feedback and evidence with services to support improvements.

However we are helping the NHS and the Mayor of Greater Manchester to prepare for the future and if Healthwatch does end, what could replace it and what is important about it? We want to hear your views.

They have information and signposting services which can support you to make choices about the health and care services you may need and how to access the support you need to live well within your local area.

The HPV vaccine is saving lives.

New research by Queen Mary University of London and Cancer Research UK shows deaths have fallen sharply since school-age girls began being offered it in 2008, and around 200 lives have been saved in England so far thanks to the vaccine.

The vaccine protects against high-risk HPV, a virus that can lead to cervical cancer and some other cancers.

Both girls and boys can get protection from high-risk HPV by having the HPV vaccination in their teenage years. It not only protects against cervical cancer, but other types of cancer too.

You can help protect your child by giving consent for them to have their vaccination when invited.

And remember: cervical screening is still important, even if you’ve had the HPV vaccine.

Today we are at Heywood Library, and we have also had a little wellbeing walk around the beautiful Heywood memorial garden next door.
It is looking beautiful - well done to all who help to maintain this space

We’re proud to have been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Their assessment gave Pennine Care NHS an overall rating of good for our leadership, culture and governance.

The rating follows an inspection in February 2026. It highlights a strong and compassionate leadership team, a clear strategic direction, and a culture focused on learning, improvement and collaboration.

Feedback from people who use services was largely positive, with 88% rating their care as good or very good.

People described feeling supported, understood and reassured, and highlighted the compassion, dignity and respect shown by staff. Care was often described as personalised and responsive to individual needs.

The report also recognises our strong partnerships across Greater Manchester and focus on listening to patients, carers and colleagues, with lived experience helping to shape services and drive improvement.

The CQC identified areas where further improvements are needed. We've already put a comprehensive improvement programme in place to respond to these.

We have had a very warm welcome this morning at Heywood Library, we are here today until 4pm offering information, advice or signposting alongside listening to your experiences of health and social care.

One of the areas we are looking for feedback around at the moment is local Care and Nursing Homes - Have you recently visited a friend or relative in one? Do they offer good quality care? Are there areas for improvement?
