We have reported this to Medway Council and are expecting repairs soon.

❌HAROLD ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE ❌(Estimated duration: 4 days)
For resident information...
The following notice has been published (and verified) by Medway Council.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable telecommunications works to be carried out .
Harold Road, Cuxton - to be closed to all vehicular traffic in Harold Road from the junction with Reginald Avenue for a distance of 30 metres. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. No alternative route is available. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
This Order will come into force on Friday, 25 September 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are expected to commence on or after that date and are programmed for completion within 5 days. The restrictions will apply only while the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.

🗺️Local Government Reorganisation Update🗺️

Yesterday, 7th September, the government announced a 'pause' on the local government reorganisation plans in Kent and Medway, along with 13 other areas in the country.

For now it seems, Medway will remain a unitary authority in its own right, with Cuxton still a part of that.

Plans to join Medway with Gravesham and Dartford may resume at some point in the future, but no dates have been set for this.

Residents are invited to participate in a new research study exploring people’s views and experiences of crime, anti-social behaviour and policing in the UK.
The research aims to improve:
• understanding of what shapes public confidence in policing,
• how confidence changes over time, and
• the impact of neighbourhood policing on local communities.
On average, it takes 10 minutes to complete, and it is entirely multiple-choice. No questions are mandatory, so you can skip any you would rather not answer. If you get distracted, you can save your progress as you go and come back whenever you wish.

Bush Road Project Update

As reported at the end of last year, Cuxton Parish Council have been actively pushing for safety improvements on Bush Road. See https://cuxtonparish.gov.uk/notices/possible-accessibility-improvements-for-bush-road/

The Bush Road project, as it has been referred to, has just entered the Safety Audit phase and, all being well with this, it will then progress to the public consultation phase, as originally agreed. This phase will give all residents, and the Parish Council, the opportunity to review and comment on proposals.

This project is something Cuxton Parish Council have been lobbying hard for for many years and have been actively chasing up on bi-weekly. We will continue to do so in spite of delays.
