The Council’s Emergency Assistance Scheme offers quick financial help for residents who need essentials like food, heating, or basic home items.

Now expanded, it’s open to more people, including low-income households and those affected by winter fuel cuts.

Check the Havering Cost of Living hub for more information.

A Romford Councillor has launched a campaign against the Romford Masterplan, despite their own party not rejecting a Masterplan when in control. The growth of properties will be over 16 years in accordance with the existing Local Plan implemented by the Conservative Administration.

Romford has been neglected under the Conservatives, and the H.R.A are changing this by bringing life back to the market and by bringing more green spaces to the town. Please take a look at the masterplan rather than listening to the words of a local politician.

The consultation closes on the 11th November and you can see full details including the changes we have made to the Conservative’s proposed masterplan here.

You will have heard that winter fuel payments will now be means tested. We are aware that some of our older residents are eligible for pension credit and they are not currently claiming this. If they register, this will open the door to other support opportunities.

Please support family, friends and neighbours to seek the support they deserve.

The following has been shared by the Council

Winter fuel payments
Havering Helps increase your income
Havering Council is aware of the potential impact the loss of the Winter Fuel Payment will have on our elderly residents across the borough.

Now is the best time to make sure you're claiming all of the benefits that you are entitled to, especially Pension Credit.

You can visit our website now to take a look at the benefits calculator and other cost of living measures you can take to help save money and stay warm this winter.

We are also looking for ways to provide further support to those residents that may be affected and help them through the winter months.
