Founded in 2005 by active Social Worker, Simon Lockyer, Blue sky has grown to be continually rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted since 2008. Being the first fostering agency to offer schemes like the DofE award, we ensure the Blue Sky family have the opportunities to fulfil their potential. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻?
Young people come into foster care for so many reasons. They come from all backgrounds, all faiths and with their own needs and experiences. Almost all will have suffered some neglect, trauma and/or abuse, and every one of them needs the security, warmth, care and support our foster carers offer.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴?
People have unique reasons for becoming foster carers, and many of them share similar qualities that help them provide excellent and inspiring care to those in need.

Being aware of triggers can be essential to navigating life for neurodivergent people. Consider the environmental factors when going out so that you can prepare for them before leaving and make the experience much more enjoyable

Ear defenders can be helpful if a noisy environment becomes overwhelming, tablet devices can help with regulating behaviour and offer time to detach and remember any special items that can help in difficult moments such as a favourite cup to drink from or a piece of clothing that makes them feel safe

Celebrating our young volunteers this Volunteers' Week (1-7 June)💙

As part of their Duke of Edinburgh's Award, our young people have been making a real difference in communities across the country.

Over the past year, they have dedicated an incredible 559 hours of volunteering, creating an estimated social value of £4,216.

From litter picking and supporting local charities to helping neighbours with shopping and gardening, assisting foster carers with newsletters, and taking part in community projects, their efforts have had a positive impact on so many people.

We are incredibly proud of the kindness, commitment, and community spirit our young people continue to show every day 🌟

Around 50% of children in care are part of a sibling group, yet many are separated due to a shortage of foster carers who can take brothers and sisters together.
