Community Safety at Lifewise Centre

We have worked closely with colleagues from SYFR to give two inputs to their Cadet scheme on 20th & 27th August.

The sessions lasting around 2 hours, were a workshop type event covering three topics, Stalking and Harassment, Sharing Images and Consent. They were held at two Fire stations, Rotherham and Edlington, with a total of 15 cadets in attendance.

Project Officers Sarah and Phil attended Doncaster Police Station on Tuesday 18th August as part of the “Healthy Her” Event.
Representatives from Doncaster Muslim Women group attended with their families and learnt about Online Safety, Hate Crime, Cyber Fraud etc.
Sarah and Phil spoke about the work we do in schools, Mini Police , Crucial Crew, Police Cadets and engaged with the members.
There was fingerprinting, Colouring and Uniform try on for everyone to enjoy.

BRINSWORTH 999 DAY: We had a great day yesterday (Wednesday 12th August) at Brinsworth 999 it was great to see so many people out in the sunshine. We had fantastic support from our Police Cadets and we spoke to lots of attendees about all things Community Safety. The children loved the fingerprinting and uniform try on we offered. But the star of the show was our hand made Police Box (Tardis) where the children had to guess the contents.

OPEN DAY 2026: As promised here are some photos from our most successful open day yet with over 1500 people attending. Thank you to everyone who attended as either a visitor or facilitator, we couldn't do it without you.
We are always looking for feedback on the day so please let us know what you thought. We aren't saying we can address all issues raised, but we can look to improve where we can for next year.

Parking restrictions will be enforced by RMBC Please check restrictions before you leave your vehicle, or risk getting a ticket.
We cannot offer advice on where vehicles should park.
DO NOT park in any business car parks. These are private car parks
There is no parking at Lifewise

ANNUAL OPEN DAY: Its just over a week until our annual open day. This is held by South Yorkshire Police & South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Joint Community Safety Department.

The annual event will be held at Lifewise Centre Hellaby Rotherham S66 8LB our purpose built fully interactive set , which is just off Junction 1 of the M18, and easily accessible by various bus services. On Thursday 6th August 2026

We will have lots of free child friendly activities on the day including, crafting stations, uniform try on and finger printing plus lots of other things to see and do. There is lots of great advice for our older visitors and lots of partners attending including:

South Yorkshire Safer Roads, Bluebell wood, Sheffield Children's Hospital, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Victim Support, With Me in Mind, REMIDI, Cranstoun, RDASH Adult Support, Red Cross, TSB, PS Homeless Charity, Andy's Man Club, Help for Heroes, Citizens Advice. Emergency Services Museum, White Knight Blood Bikes plus Police & Fire vehicles.

It’s really a day any age can enjoy and learn something new, it’s not an event exclusively for children.

The event is free to attend and open to all ages. Cash will be required to purchase refreshments on the day, if required and all profits are donated to charity.

The day will start at 1000 and end at 1500.

There is no car parking on site, the Lifewise car park will be closed for the event.

Lower Meadows Mini Police have successfully completed their Mini Police Programme.
Congratulations to each of them, who have today been presented with their certificate of completion.

Planning to cool off in the reservoirs or rivers around South Yorkshire today? ☀️💧

While open water might look inviting, it hides serious dangers like strong currents, unseen objects, and cold water shock—even on a hot day.

If you get into trouble:

✋ FLOAT TO LIVE: Tilt your head back, relax, and control your breathing. Spread your arms and legs gently to stay afloat.
📞 CALL 999: If someone is in danger, call emergency services.

Never enter the water to attempt a rescue yourself. Stay safe and look out for each other!
