Childrenโs Mental Health Week
Awareness weeks matter.
But childrenโs mental health isnโt something we focus on once a year - it sits at the centre of what we do, every single day.
In our homes, it always has.
Our responsibility is to create environments where children feel safe, valued, and equipped with strategies to navigate difficult times. We recognise that progress is gradual and deeply individual.
Day to day, this means building self-esteem, creating emotional safety, practising mindfulness, encouraging new experiences, and helping each child or young person discover what works for them.
This week this has included:
โข Expressing feelings through artwork
โข Exploring worries through โworry boxesโ
โข Attending yoga sessions
โข Supporting a young person to attend their first welcome chat with Sheffield Charity Gold Digger Trust - www.golddiggertrust.co.uk
At the point of moving on from our Childrenโs Homes, a young person shared these words with the team:
โThank you so much for everything you have done for me here at Pathways. I have grown so much in my time here and I'll always remember everything you have done for me, supported me, and helped me grow into the person I am today. I really appreciate it!!! Lots of Love โ P.S, going to miss you all so so much! ๐โ
Growth like this takes time.
It takes consistency.
It takes adults who stay - especially on the hard days.
We care deeply about the wellbeing of our children, and equally about the wellbeing of our teams. When our teams feel supported and emotionally safe, they can offer the calm, steady presence every child deserves.
Childrenโs Mental Health Week is a reminder.
For the children and young people, we support, this work is ongoing - quiet, relational, sometimes slow, but always important.
Weโre proud of every step forward, however big or small.
