Winter is coming🌨️

We’re searching for willing residents to volunteer as Snow Wardens to help protect the borough from the dangers of icy pavements and other footpaths☃️

As a Snow Warden volunteer, you will be helping to clear snow and ice from paths and areas used by pedestrians❄️ All you need to have is warm clothing, non-slip footwear, and a charged mobile phone📱

We will provide you with all the equipment you need including a snow shovel, a high visibility vest, gloves, and rock salt🧤

We hope you found your future at our Futures Fair yesterday!✨

We would like to thank everyone who came along to our event and spoke with Council services, partners and local organisations to help you prepare for your next step into adulthood.

Our event was aimed at those with special educational needs (SEND) to learn about living independently, building your community, health and wellbeing, and work and learning🏠

Having a job doesn’t always protect someone from homelessness. Other life events such as ill health, a breakdown of a relationship, and the rising cost of living can all play a part.

From Wednesday 28 October, you'll have more time to visit your local Household Waste Recycling Centre♻️

Our Household Waste Recycling Centres will be open from 9:30am to 5pm, seven days a week, all year round.

The longer opening hours are possible as the Council takes back the management of the sites, giving us more flexibility over how they're run.

The sites will also remain open on Bank Holidays, apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

The new opening hours apply at Car Hill, Lidget Lane, Warren Vale and Magilla, so you can have more time when planning a visit📍

The new Waverley Medical Centre, a £3 million NHS facility forming part of the Olive Lane development in Rotherham, has officially opened🎉

Cllr Chris Read, chair of the Rotherham Together Partnership, attended the opening of the state-of-the art, purpose-built medical centre.

He said: “We know this is a long-awaited addition to the facilities at Waverley, and the Rotherham Together Partnership has always committed to ensuring that it’s delivered, so it’s great that the day has finally arrived.

“Only by working across agencies can we deliver this kind of community infrastructure, it’s a real team effort. My thanks go to the Council, health service and Harworth’s staff who’ve worked so hard to bring this to fruition.

"And of course, we’ve already committed hundreds of thousands of pounds to upgrade other GP practices across the borough to both improve access to local doctors and to bolster our local high streets at the same time.

“Doubtless this will be a much-valued facility that will serve the local community for generations to come.”

OnDemand gives passengers in selected parts of Rotherham more flexibility, allowing journeys to be booked quickly and easily through an app or by phone.

The trial is available in Brookhouse, Dinnington, Firbeck, Harthill, Letwell, Thorpe Salvin, Thurcroft, Todwick, Ulley, Waverley and Woodsetts, helping people travel within their local area and beyond🚍

Whether you're travelling to work, college, a healthcare appointment or an interchange, OnDemand offers another way to travel.

The service runs Monday to Saturday, from 5am to 6pm, with fares starting from £3 and concessions available for eligible passengers.

We are celebrating the incredible Kinship Carers who look after a child they know when their parents are unable to.

A Kinship Carer comes in the form of grandparents, aunties, uncles, siblings, family friends, and anyone else who is providing a loving home for a child they know❤️

Taking care of a child who needs stability and a loving home is a wonderful thing to do. We offer support to Kinship Carers across Rotherham and are here to offer advice and support whenever its needed.
