Cairngorms Wildfire! 🔥
What a crazy 5 weeks it has been. A tremendous effort from all those involved with bringing this incident to a close, all the volunteers, local community, game keepers, estate workers, RSPB , Cairngorm Mountain Resort staff, COTAG 4x4 Response , those who donated, and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service personnel. All working together, putting in extraordinary long hours with minimal sleep on top of working full time jobs for some of us.
🙌 The outstanding efforts from those at Glenmore Lodge & Nethy Bridge - Community for keeping all of us fed and looked after.
The warm meals, home bakes and smiles made those long hours possible. Thank you!
🤝 We would like to say a huge thank you to all the employers for allowing us to help the community and who support us as On-Call Firefighters, especially through this challenging incident.
❤️ Also a huge shout out and thank you to all our families, the support you give us is second to none, all the sleepless nights, missed meals and events. If it wasn’t for your support, we wouldn’t have a fire service at all. Your patience and understanding is always greatly appreciated.
With Rothes alone attending the cairngorms fire over 20 times, most of which have been shifts of 6 hours and upwards. This really highlights the need for new recruits to help us share the work load and protect our beautiful country.
