This week highlights two important issues that often go hand in hand – the dangers of illegal money lending and the impact financial pressure can have on our mental wellbeing.

How to spot the signs of a loan shark (illegal money lender):
• No paperwork or unclear terms
• Taking valuables (like bank cards, passports or benefits cards) as security
• Threatening behaviour or intimidation
• Increasing debts unfairly or charging excessive interest
• Keeping track of payments in informal ways (e.g. notes, memory only)

Taking a loan from an illegal lender can quickly spiral out of control and cause significant stress, anxiety and worry. Financial strain doesn’t just affect your bank balance – it can impact your sleep, mood, relationships and overall wellbeing. It’s completely okay to ask for help.

We’re here to support you - if you’re struggling to pay your rent, please don’t ignore it and speak to us. We can:
• Work with you to set up a manageable payment plan
• Offer advice and guidance to help you stay on track
• Signpost you to additional support services if needed

You’re not alone. Reaching out early can make a real difference.

Residents at Apsley House marked VE Day in the best way - with music🎶

We were delighted to welcome the talented Tom Heyes - Singer who brought the spirit of the 1940s to life, performing classic WWII-era songs.

It was a wonderful afternoon of nostalgia, community, and celebration as residents came together to remember this important moment in history and honour those who lived through it.

A great afternoon at Apsley House’s V.E Day 81st Celebration singing a variety of iconic songs the 1940s era and World War Two associated classics.

A great atmosphere and a very engaging audience with lots of singing and flag waving, plus some dancing to the Fred Astaire tunes. With V.E Day, it’s always important to celebrate and remember those who fought for our freedom, as well as the brave sacrifices made in the name of duty and democracy.

Thank you inviting me and hope to be back soon!

Our supported living residents David and Pamela at Havacre Lane have been a leading example for embracing our new recycling systems with enthusiasm. ♻️

They’ve been fantastic at supporting fellow residents and reminding colleagues to follow the guidelines too.

To recognise their amazing efforts, they were presented with Recycling Champion certificates, which they were both delighted to receive! Well done David and Pamela! 👏

All residents, their friends and families, had an amazing afternoon. Due to popular demand, we’ve already asked them to come back again later this year!

A huge shout out to the Residents’ Committee at Vantage Point for organising an amazing spread for a wonderful afternoon tea - the perfect way to round off a lovely afternoon. Thank you to everyone involved! ❤️
