With the warmer weather weโ€™re having over the next few days, we want you to stay safe while enjoying the sun.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Do not leave disposable BBQ's or glass bottles in open areas. They can easily start a fire which will spread rapidly damaging woodland areas and wildlife.

๐Ÿ›Ÿ Stay safe around water. If you see anyone in trouble in the water, remember phone 999, tell them to float on their back, throw any nearby rescue equipment.

๐Ÿชž Keep objects like mirrors out of direct sunlight as they can concentrate the sun's rays, causing near-by objects to set fire.

A little thank you and good luck! This week, weโ€™ve loved welcoming Willow and Joshua to Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.
There's so much that happens within the fire service that most people don't get to see, Willow and Joshua had the chance to experience this first-hand, from Fire Control to the prevention work we do in the community and all of the training and teamwork that keeps Warwickshire safe.
Thank you both for your enthusiasm and positivity while youโ€™ve been with us. We wish you all the very best for the future โ€“ and hope you take away some great memories (and maybe a little inspiration too).

Please take extra care when spending time outdoors โ€” not just in woodland areas, but also in parks, fields, and other green spaces.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Do not leave disposable BBQs or glass bottles behind. These can easily start fires that spread quickly, causing serious damage to nature and wildlife.

If you're having a BBQ at home, please:
- Keep it well away from fences, trees, and neighbouring properties.
- Always have water or a fire extinguisher nearby.
- Never dispose of hot embers in your wheelie binโ€”they can ignite and cause a fire.

Letโ€™s all do our part to protect our communities and natural spaces this summer. ๐ŸŒณ

Educating Warwickshireโ€™s children and young people on fire safety is a really important part of our prevention work here at Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.
So far this academic year (since September 2025) we have carried out over 460 safety sessions to Year 1 and Year 5 students across Warwickshire.

We also have a fire engine activity box that nurseries can loan which includes game and activities to help children learn about fire safety and road safety in a fun and interactive way and our Fire Setting Intervention Scheme for under 18s who have shown risky fire-related behviour.

Outdoor burning can quickly get out of control as this footage shows. Crews recently attended an incident where a controlled burn became unsafe and spread beyond its intended area.
Several serious risks were identified, including fires being accelerated with petrol, they also discovered that leaf blowers were being used to intensify the flames and crucially there was no water or extinguishing equipment available.

Even when burns are planned, conditions can change rapidly this puts people, property and the environment at risk. As part of the NFCCโ€™s Outdoor Fire Safety campaign, weโ€™re reminding everyone to take extra care when burning outdoors:

Always check weather conditions.
Never use accelerants like petrol
Keep fires small and manageable
Have water or firefighting equipment nearby
Never leave a fire unattended
