Royston & District Twinning Association has been entertaining their Spanish friends from Villanueva de la Cañada this weekend to celebrate 15 years of Twinning.
Activities included a guided tour of Royston Cave, punting in Cambridge and a visit to Wimpole Hall. They were treated to an English afternoon tea on Friday and a Saturday evening buffet in the garden of two twinning members.
We were presented with a letter from Luis Partida Brunete, Mayor of Villanueva de la Cañada, and a guide to all this wonderful town has to offer.

Well that’s a first for me! I’ve just been interviewed by Emma & Pete on Meridian 1 radio.
I talked to them about being Royston Town Mayor and my chosen charities Outside of the box CIC and The Mayor’s Community Trust Fund. They played three of my favourite songs;

Today I visited Royston Allotments at Coombes Hole for their open day. Despite the drought and high temperatures the allotments holders are producing some wonderful crops and beautiful displays of flowers.
As judge, I tasted a range of cakes and bakes, some of them made from fruit and vegetables grown on the allotments. I can recommend the courgette and cheese scones, beetroot brownies and summer fruit cakes.

Saturday afternoon at Therfield Recreation Ground watching Royston Cricket Club’s 1st XI v Telugu Association of Cambridge CC.
It was a pleasure to join you and hear about all the great work you do running the club, coaching young people and maintaining the ground, especially in these challenging times.
