Monday 1st June to Sunday 7th June is Libraries Week! To celebrate the National Year of Reading this year’s theme is Libraries Change Lives through literacy and reading. For the first 2 weeks in June, it is HiVis Fortnight. This year, it is tying in with the National Year of Reading’s and the theme is ‘Go All In’.
It shines a spotlight on accessible reading and library services for people with vision impairment (VI). In Hertfordshire Libraries, we provide a selection of resources for customers with VI.
These range from our online Apps such as Borrowbox (for e-audiobooks, e-books with large font) to Libby (e-magazines) to PressReader. We also provide Large Print books, Audiobooks, Braille books, dyslexia-friendly books and yellow-paged books. We also have magnifiers and adaptive technology available on the public PCs.
There are also other services that you may wish to contact, such as Reading Sight, RNIB, Clear Vision, Calibre Audio, Macular Society.
Please feel free to ask a member of staff about the services offered at the library.
