A blessed weekend for the Town Crier.
On Saturday Morning I attended the last Armed Forces Breakfast Club to be held at The Staffordshire Coffee Lounge in Rugeley.
Just under 50 Breakfasteers present, so not the busiest we've seen, but a very healthy number indeed.
The announcement given included the welcoming of family and friends, particularly the Aunties of Pete (Winker) Watson who passed this year. A very popular character of the Regiment.
As a representative of The Staffordshire Regiment in a public role, I was blessed to receive a sponsorship check of ยฃ100 from the Stafford Branch of the Association and it gave a picture opportunity for the branch members and Chair.
If that wasnt enough I was gifted a pair of shoes. This was an honour indeed. Mr Pete Oliver RVM, had carried these shoes for many years. He was wearing them when he stood as a guard in state for HRH Queen Elizabeth. He was wearing them when he was a Guard of Honour at HRH King Charles Coronation, and he was wearing them on his last duty before retirement from The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard which is the oldest military corps and royal bodyguard, established in 1485 by King Henry VII after the Battle of Bosworth Field.
But not least because he is a friend and great heart that I had the pleasure to serve in the Staffordshire Regiment founded 1705 at The Kings Head in Lichfield.
I give thanks, for being accepted by the Regimental Community as the Regiments Crier, and I take great pride in being in this unique role.

Today I will be attending the last Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club to be held at The Staffordshire Coffee Lounge formerly Brewery Street Cafe, on Market Square, Rugeley. From 0900 to 1100. This group has been coming together for over 3 years on the last Saturday of the Month in Rugeley.
It has proven to be the most successful gathering of Veterans, from across the County and beyond, bringing friends, family and former colleagues of the Armed Forces together for a shared healthy experience.
I am sad to see it come to an end with the impending closure of the Cafe, but proud to have been a part of something so very special.
I look forward to finding a suitable venue for relocation and the clubs continued success.

Well, after much deliberation, consultation and a smidgeon of planet alignment.
The good folk of Biddulph elected to award yours truly with the People's Champion Winner of the 2026 Loyal Company of Town Criers, British Championship!
I am truly humbled and in equal dance happy mode, not least as being the newest member of the LCTC and attending my first event with them has produced the highest award to date for the Town Crier of Rugeley and Staffordshire Regiment Crier.
Love Biddulph and looking forward to this evenings dinner.

On this the 9th day of August in the year 2026. The Town Crier, stood alongside Civic Dignitaries, Champions of Community Spirit, Friends and Family of a local Legend. His name is Mihai and his strength, motivation and heart is evident. Mihai set himself a challenge of Swimming the equivalent of the English Channel at our local leisure centre. Not once tho. At a 50mile challenge, that equates to 2 and a half crossings. This was done as a mile a day for 50 days. At 65 lengths a day, it is truly an epic challenge to attempt. His motivation for this humongous feat? To raise funds for the welfare of his little brother and Top support crew member, 11-year-old, Andrei, who lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). It was humbling to attend today and congratulate Mihai on achieving his 49 mile landmark. His final Mile will be at 0730 Rugeley Leisure Centre in the morning. Please drop by to congratulate this Rugeley Legend, follow the Link or just congratulate online on being the perfect Brother and an absolute Star of our amazing Town of Rugeley. ๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ””GSTK
