We, the Wellingborough and Rushden Constituency Labour Party are appalled to hear of the serious allegations that have arisen against Peter Bone. This is not the expected conduct of an MP and our thoughts are with the alleged victim in wishing they get the support needed. Peter Bone is currently and has shown on many occasions that he is not a true representation of the people of Wellingborough and Rushden. We all deserve better and as such we call on him to do the right thing and resign.

The Wellingborough and Rushden Labour party wishes to express solidarity with our LGBTQ+ community in light of deeply offensive and abhorrent comments expressed by serving North Northants and Rushden Councillor, King Lawal.

celebrates positively changing attitudes in society towards LGBTQ+ people and their achievements in securing legal protections, equal rights and freedom to be themselves without discrimination.

Those freedoms and rights were won the hard way. 🏳️‍🌈

Cllr Lawal’s follow-up statement seeking to justify the offence caused, making no effort to understand the upset and anger of residents affected, is simply not good enough.

We are thankful that NNC and other bodies have acted swiftly to address the community’s complaints.

Brickhill & Queensway residents can be proud of the improvements they’ve fought for, from Glamis Hall to CCTV. They deserve better.

Wellingborough Labour believes that you shouldn’t be judged for in who you are, your family members, friends, or the area you live in.
