Looking for a meaningful way to spend your summer break?
We are currently looking for temporary Summer Volunteers to join the team at Open Door!

With the summer holidays upon us, many of our brilliant regular volunteers are away on well-deserved breaks. We need enthusiastic individuals to step in and help us keep our vital services running smoothly over the next 6 weeks.

This is a fantastic opportunity for university students, school leavers, or anyone with some spare time who wants to gain valuable hands-on experience, boost their CV, and give back to the local St Albans community.

The Details:
Commitment: Just 1 to 2 shifts per week for a 6-week period.

Flexible Shifts: Choose from afternoon (1:45 PM – 4:00 PM) or evening (6:30 PM – 8:00 PM) slots.

Requirements: All volunteers must be over 18
Volunteers will support us by preparing lunch or evening meals in our kitchen.

Whether you want to build up your skills or simply do something amazing for your community during your summer break, we would love to hear from you!

It’s Small Charity Week!

At Open Door St Albans, we are proud to be a small charity making a big impact right here in St Albans. 💙💛

Being small means we are deeply rooted in St Albans. We know the people we help, and we see the direct power of your support every single day.
From funding our vital Safer Streets outreach worker to providing almost 5,000 hot meals a year at the Bricket Road Homeless Hub, your kindness creates real change for those affected by homelessness.

Running a small charity isn't always easy, but with our incredible team of over 100 volunteers, we help ensure that nobody has to face homelessness alone. We give a listening ear and empower lives beyond homelessness.
How you can support us this week:

💙Drop off essentials: We serve a lot of food and drinks! The Homeless Hub is always in need of crisps, drinks, fruit and sweet treats. Drop them off at the Homeless Hub, any day after 2pm.

What an incredible evening!
A massive thank you to everyone who joined us at the for a wonderful performance of The Girl On The Train. It was an absolute hit with everyone there!

Together, we raised a spectacular £1,890 through ticket and raffle sales. We are so incredibly grateful for your generosity and support in making the night such a fantastic success. 💙💛

GIVING TUESDAY
Last week, we were delighted to attend the presentation evening of the Three Valleys Club, a local social and charitable organisation that brings together people from across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire to support good causes in their communities. The club regularly raises funds and volunteers its time to help local charities and community groups.
We were incredibly grateful to receive a donation of £1,198.44 from the Three Valleys Club.
A huge thank you to all of the club's members for their generosity and support.

Last week, we were honoured to attend Evensong at St Albans Cathedral and to receive funding through the Cathedral's Mission Giving programme.

Thank you to St Albans Cathedral for such a warm welcome, a beautiful service, and for your generous support of Open Door.

🌟 A Huge Thank You to Ezra! 🌟

We would like to say a massive thank you to Ezra, who recently held a toy sale to support Open Door.

Ezra sold some of his own toys and raised an amazing £140 for Open Door!
