Last night, a group of our lifeguards ran from Broad Haven lifeguard unit to Little Haven point and then swam back.

Well done to all who took part, including Michael Bool from Little Haven Lifeboat crew who came second!

We’ve been forced to red flag a number of beaches today due to thick sea mist.

Poor visibility means we can’t see you and therefore don’t know you need help if you get into trouble in the water.

Please keep this in mind if you’re planning a dip this evening, we’d recommend saving it for when the sky has cleared and people can see you.

Today is Lifeguard Appreciation Day.

In the year we celebrate 25 years of RNLI lifeguards, we’re reflecting on the incredible achievements of our service.

In Pembrokeshire alone, since 2008 RNLI lifeguards have made 2.3M preventative actions, have aided 14,583 people, responded to 10,680 incidents and saved 158 lives.

We’re forever in awe of the bravery and selflessness displayed by our team and their commitment to keeping people safe on our beaches.

If you’re heading to the beach, show your appreciation by swimming between the red and yellow flags and helping us to keep you safe. It means the world to us 💙

Floating is proven to have saved more than 50 lives. We encourage you to practice finding your float at a supervised location like a lifeguarded beach or swimming pool.

If you find yourself in trouble in the water, floating buys you valuable time. It helps you to preserve your energy until you can swim to safety, or until help arrives.

If you see anyone else in difficulty remember: Phone, Float, Throw.

- Phone 999 to get help
- Encourage them to stay calm and Float on their back
- Throw rescue equipment or anything that floats to assist them until help arrives.

Learn it, practice it and share it. You could be a lifesaver 💙 RNLI
