Come and meet some of your local parish councillors and find out more about what the Parish Council does. We will have a table at the Farmer's Market this coming Saturday from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

We hope to be joined by our Cornwall Councillor John Martin & a representative from our local Neighbourhood Police Team (work permitting).

Please come along and have a chat with us and ask any questions you may have - we may not be able to provide an immediate answer but we will do our best to help where we can or at least signpost you in the right direction to find an answer!

We are delighted to advise residents that the Parish Council (SEPC) was successful in its recent application to GrantScape and has been awarded funding from the SUEZ Community Fund - England. This will enable us to build on the success of the SERRCA Project which was completed in 2024/25 opening up the Nature Park and undertaking green bank repairs along various sections of the footpath on the River Hayle, running from St Erth Bridge to Trewinnard Bridge, to help improving safety and stability along the route.

This latest work, which SEPC is also contributing towards from its Improvement Projects earmarked reserves, will allow further green bank repairs at another 3 locations where erosion has been identified as an ongoing concern. In addition, reed/rush planting will be carried out in two locations with the aim of further reducing erosion, enhancing biodiversity, and improving water quality along the river.

Westcountry Rivers Trust (WRT) will be undertaking this work on behalf of SEPC next week. Whilst the footpath won't be closed, please be aware there may be some disruption to walkers whilst the work takes place, as WRTs priority is to ensure safety whilst undertaking the works.

Please note that this work does not include the closed section at Carbis Mill which is in St Hilary Parish and managed by Cornwall Council. SEPC continues to push for the re-opening of this popular route which links Relubbus and St Erth. We recently shared an update from the Countryside Team regarding their intention to reopen this section and will share any further updates as soon as we have them.

We have again received reports of unsafe and inconsiderate parking around the School at busy dropโ€‘off and pickโ€‘up times. Parking on pavements or across dropped kerbs reduces visibility, forces children into the road, and prevents residents from being able to leave their driveways. The local police team are aware of the ongoing concerns.

Please help keep everyone safe by:

โŒNot parking on pavements
โœ…Keeping all dropped kerbs and access points clear
โŒAvoiding reversing where children are walking
โœ…Parking a little further away and walking the final short distance

Thank you for supporting the safety and wellbeing of our school community and local residents.

"I can confirm that there are currently no plans to consider extinguishing the footpath along the River Hayle. We are fully intending to carry out repairs to the eroded section of the path, sufficiently to allow it to be re-opened. Extinguishment would be a last resort and only considered if the line of the path had eroded away and there was no feasible way of safely re-instating or diverting the path.

The situation at the moment is that the bank has been stabilised through the work carried out by Westcountry Rivers Trust and volunteers and we are intending to carry out further small scale works to allow the path to be safely re-opened. Our priority is to get this path open and the full length of the route alongside the river walkable again.

I apologise for any confusion in communications around this. I will keep you updated as and when we have any firmer details around dates and progress."
