We have again received reports of unsafe and inconsiderate parking around the School at busy dropโ€‘off and pickโ€‘up times. Parking on pavements or across dropped kerbs reduces visibility, forces children into the road, and prevents residents from being able to leave their driveways. The local police team are aware of the ongoing concerns.

Please help keep everyone safe by:

โŒNot parking on pavements
โœ…Keeping all dropped kerbs and access points clear
โŒAvoiding reversing where children are walking
โœ…Parking a little further away and walking the final short distance

Thank you for supporting the safety and wellbeing of our school community and local residents.

"I can confirm that there are currently no plans to consider extinguishing the footpath along the River Hayle. We are fully intending to carry out repairs to the eroded section of the path, sufficiently to allow it to be re-opened. Extinguishment would be a last resort and only considered if the line of the path had eroded away and there was no feasible way of safely re-instating or diverting the path.

The situation at the moment is that the bank has been stabilised through the work carried out by Westcountry Rivers Trust and volunteers and we are intending to carry out further small scale works to allow the path to be safely re-opened. Our priority is to get this path open and the full length of the route alongside the river walkable again.

I apologise for any confusion in communications around this. I will keep you updated as and when we have any firmer details around dates and progress."

The Annual Parish meeting is due to take place on Thursday 30th April at St Erth Church Hall (The Old School), The Green Lane, St Erth at 7.00pm (tea, coffee and biscuits will be available from 6.30pm).

This is not a Parish Council meeting, but a meeting for the electors of the parish. As well as receiving updates from representatives of various local organisations, we are delighted to have two presentations from Cornwall Council Transport Service & Go Cornwall Bus about the 15 bus service and the West Cornwall Beekeepers Association about the Asian Hornet.

In addition, a representative from our local Hayle Neighbourhood Police Team will be attending as will our Cornwall Councillor John Martin.

We look forward to seeing you there.

UPDATE - WE BELIEVE WE HAVE FOUND THEM! MANY THANKS TO THE TWO RESIDENTS WHO PULLED THEM OUT OF THE RIVER ON SATURDAY MORNING (THE SECOND SWIM THE FENCING HAD TAKEN IN TWO DAYS) AND STORED THEM SAFELY FOR US.

3 heras fencing panels similar to those shown below were stolen from Green Lane park sometime last weekend.

Sadly about 6 months ago one of the picnic benches in the park was ripped up and thrown in the river. It was beyond repair and the Parish Council agreed to replace it with a new bench. It was also agreed that this would be installed on a concrete slab to avoid a repeat of this happening.

SWPSI, our contractors, laid the slab last week and whilst it was drying put three heras fencing panels with footings around the slab. SWPSI have reported that when they went to install the bench on Monday the panels had vanished completely (they had apparently already fished them out of the river once last week when they went to check on the concrete and the reason they had to leave them in place longer as they had to redo some of the concrete).

The nearby area has been checked but there is no sign of them. These are not light weight or easy to transport items so if anyone spotted anything suspicious or has any information about their whereabouts please contact the Clerk on 01736 757575. The cost of all this vandalism is adding up and ends up being paid for out of the precept.
