Salcombe Fire Station Salcombe Fire Station is an on-call station in Devon. We are an on-call fire station operating for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service.

Being retained (or on-call) means that we are not on station 24 hours a day but use a pager system to alert crews to attend the station when an incident comes in. We have 11 crew at Salcombe but are always looking to recruit someone who is keen to become part of the team. IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM WALES AND WEST UTILITIES

We still have a high number of properties in Salcombe where we have not been able to gain access. This means we have engineers still working to gain access to them in order to switch the gas valve off.

We would ask that any landlords, letting agents or designated key holders for properties in Salcombe and are aware the property is empty get in contact with us immediately to discuss ways for us to gain access. This can be done by approaching one of the many engineers we have working in the area directly or by calling us on 0800 912 2999.

If anyone does smell gas in the area, then please contact the National Gas Emergency number on 0800 111 999.

We have been experiencing a high number of calls following the heavy rain in Devon and Somerset earlier today, with more rain expected to sweep across the area this evening.

Water levels are likely to keep rising, with roads becoming flooded. Please do not drive through floodwater, especially where warning signs have been put in place.

Just 30cm of flowing water can make a vehicle stuck or even sweep it away.

We're holding an open day at our headquarters near Exeter on Saturday 1 September.

There will be lots of emergency services vehicles with demonstrations throughout the day.

We will also be fundraising with lots of fun and games including a coconut shy, adults and children's tombola , skittles, bouncy castle, splat the rat, face painting, tin can alley, raffle, BBQ, refreshments and much more...

Don’t forget to get the firefighters wet in the stocks!
