When you first apply, the process may seem daunting, but donβt worry, we have your back!
On your initial application, someone from your local station will get in contact to ask about your hours of availability, commitment you can give to your station. Youβll then be invited in for a station visit, where you can ask as many or as little questions as youβd like. Someone from the team will give you a brief tour, and provide you with information about the rest of the application process. This will include how to fill out your HR072 (the hours in which you can provide cover for your station), the training expectations to meet the minimum requirements on your recruitment day, the maintenance of the fitness once you pass your recruitment day to keep you fit for your basic skills course.
This timeline may range from a couple weeks to a few months, and generally follows this schedule:
π pre screening call
π station visit (and approval of hours from our HR team)
π online tests
π fitness/recruitment day
π interview
π medical/ eyesight test
π DBS/ reference check
Once you have met all the DWFRS Requirements, youβll be assigned your a basic skills course and your journey to becoming a firefighter will be well underway!
Be sure to keep an eye out for our next post, where weβll highlight the requirements of the recruitment day ( 1 by 1 ) and how to meet our criteria!
